On impulse and opportunity I bought a (new) K ubota loader valve (Husco 9210) which is good for 20GPM...it came with supply, return and PB hoses...as well as a remote w/cables (cable operated) joystick (cab model)
it also has all four male end QD fittings and the hydraulic connection block for the model tractor it was designed for...it has both float and regen detents...

The hoses alone (1/2" with expensive 90* fittings etc.) would cost close to what I paid for the valve etc...($100+$30 shipping)

Any opinions on using this valve on a (Cadillac) log splitter I'm planning on making?...

What is your GPM flow rate?

Do you not want auto return?

I was going to look at something like a 16 GPM pump (independent splitter, gas engine)

Auto return would be best...with my limited knowledge I was wondering about the regen cycle...open to all suggestions...

I sure would not use that nice of a valve of a log splitter that is only use 1 or 2 times a year. For $100,00 if you haven't got it yet, get it. You can resell real easy to anyone that has a 2 lever loader valve. That nice of valve I would maybe think about building a tractor just for that valve.

That would work any tractor with the loader valve up by the loader and below the 20gpm. What a find.

When no one else bid on it I figured I could do something with it...I thought it would be cool to have a splitter with a joystick...round lift tray and splitter cylinders..

open to all ideas or suggestions...

It probablyhas regen and float, and not a good choice for a log splitter.

This valve at about $65 is what you want , or a two spool valve made for a log splitter valve with log lift.

Surplus Center - 1 SPOOL 25 GPM LOG SPLITTER VALVE W/AUTO DETENT

Surplus Center - 2 SPOOL 25 GPM PRINCE LOG SPLITTER/LIFTER VALVE

Surplus Center - 1 SPOOL PRINCE AUTO CYCLE LOG SPLITTER VALVE W/PB

Definately want a 2 spool valve for for a lifting tray cylinder...but I'm confused about the auto return...what makes the rod retract? it dies this after it reaches its length of travel ?

Yes, once you set both levers, the cyl will extend fully, and then auto return and go to neutral while you are getting another log ready.

Both levers are pulled out to detent position, cylinder extends and at end of forward stroke one lever automatically returns to neutral and cylinder reverses. When fully retracted second lever returns to neutral. (3 work ports are used, two are tied to together and then run to rod end of cylinder, third connects to base end of cylinder).

Thanks J_J you're always helpful...I am slowly accumulating the material and parts for the splitter but it will be later this summer before I start building it...until then I am still open for suggestion on the loader valve/joystick...

If you want to increase your log splitter potential, use the two spool auto valve, and feed the PB from that valve to another two spool valve for the log lift and the wedge lift.

If you tell me the engine HP for a stand-alone I can recommend a hyd pump.

With 16 HP, you can power a 28 GPM two stage pump.
