LOADERS: do we expect too much from them?

/ LOADERS: do we expect too much from them? #51
I've had my B7610 with 302 loader for almost three weeks now and I am very happy. Any more weight up front on my uneven terrain and it would be too unbalanced for my current comfort level. It has saved our backs many tons of work since we have had it and we have tackled some projects that otherwise would have been put off, or at best , taken much more time with much more labor. Just yesterday during a low deck building project, I was able to scrape off 8 bucket loads of dirt so that the joists would fit, saving a building crew a lot of shovel work. I have easily hauled 3 foot long cut sandstone blocks that otherwise would have been nearly impossible to move. The area around our house is hilly so wheelbarrows are a LOT of work. I really love my 7610 even with a relatively small loader and find a use for it almost daily.

Are you sure it is that much difference? The 4000 Ten series relief is set to 2500 psi, and the 990 is around 2250 psi - about 10% different. This is just from memory, but I think the 430 is rated to lift about 1200 lbs to full height on a 4000 Ten series machine and just under 1100 lbs on a 990, because of the pressure difference. The breakout force is 3000ish lbs, but I don't know if that is at the pivot pins, bucket lib, or where.

In practice, my loader feels weaker than the numbers would suggest, but then I'm not a very good judge of how much something like a bucket full of wet dirt might weigh. I was also pushing a big rock around that would have been about 3000 lbs (about a cubic meter in size) and I definitely could have used more power to flip it over and move it around.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but I also need more weight. With the 990 itself, loader, and all 4 tires filled I'm close to 5000 lbs, but I can still spin all 4 tires (R1's) at idle. Tears up the yard something fierce. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think what I really want is the power and weight of a 150 horsepower AG tractor in a package the size of my 990.
