The manufactures, and government safety standards groups know a lot more about what is safe and what is not than any individual buyer .

Wow.. might just as well call everybody ignorant then.

Guess wearing a shirt with a tractor co. name on it.. or getting a paycheck with the statue of liberty on it immediatly makes you smarter.. .. (Don't bet on it.)

At this point.. I'm going to omit the snide political remark I was going to make.. about who i think your voting for in november.. ;)

I am not going to agree with this either. Bureaucrats always THINK they know whats best. And always suggest their good intentions, should be the only measure of their success. While they often fail miserably, when you use any other standard, to judge them.

I am not against all government regulations. However, the risk of being sued, can be a powerful market force. The regulations often shield the manufacturers from liability that, if not there, might result in even safer products.

Interesting comment, but I think if you augment government safety standards groups with independant labs and consumer groups then the safety picture is complete. Government alone in any process linked to private industry without some independant oversight tend to lean towards unintended results, especially as of late.

Yeah.. I felt it smacked of brittle close minded, inside the box smug thinking... The type of stuffy speech-talk that gets used to brainwash the masses...

Is this the pot, calling the kettle black?

Not at all. I'm opinionated.. just like the next guy.. I like broad thinking.. not narrowminded bondage/discipline style.

it's the outside the box stuff that usually results in breakthru.. not 'status quo'.

Hmm.. "*just*" .. so then.. are you saying that you want a job that pays you specificaly ( perhaps exclusively? ) to roam and postulate?

Yep Right on! But then I realized that was already happening. Called Government Pension and Pension from a Previous Employer that makes the Government one Pale in comparison!:p:p

So. one could say I already have a job that pays to roam the INTERNET or do whatever I wish!:p:p

I believe since you made the father in laws money comment you are talking about Mccain.
If you are not I apolgize if you are however I want to at least correct you on this. I believe Mccain had at least one job. It was working for the United States Navy. That is a job I am proud to say I have also had at one time in my life. I see a lot of politicians that talk about how much they love their country or what they are willing to give up for it. Mccain is the only one that has stepped up to the plate and literally put his body on the line for an idea. When Mccain was offered the chance to go home from Hanoi he knew how much that would play out in propaganda for our enemies. He chose to stay and face years of torture so that they would not be able to use him like that. Whether his politics are good or bad, whether he deserves to be president, that is a choice that in our own minds we have to make. He does however deserve respect for refusing to go home before it was his turn when he was a POW.

This thread is on the edge of the political abyss. Too bad because it had some great commentary.

How about after market ROPS? Does the insurance industry care? How about the manufacturer? Are they classified as acceptable modifications?
