log home and pond

/ log home and pond #31
I live in texas and have a log house. I just got my house stained with Woodguard by a guy thats been doing it for 30 years and he said Woodguard is the only thing he uses that will stand up to the texas heat. He said it would last 3 years and then apply another coat. I love the house but not the up keep!

laurencen,
Your logs look awesome.
I saw that kind at the recent log home show in Ontario CA. As I recall, that is a pretty pricey log home you are building compared to mine. Nice to see someone build one like that.

WOW, that looks great!!

Looking very good man.
That's a lot of progress you made there. I see they're starting to finish the interior roof and such. It's very interesting to see the difference in log home construction between yours and mine, even in the style. Won't be long before you move in now. Mine should be done sometime in June this year.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! That's an interesting blend of construction styles -- hand-crafted log walls (instead of machined) but with a more conventional roofing system made of engineered trusses. I find the roofing most interesting...

A lot of log homes here in the US have gone to structural, insulated panels (SIPS) over purlins or rafters, or what's called a "built-up" roof where they deck the entire roof with T&G planks, then use 2Xs to frame above that, add the insulation layer beteen the 2Xs, then deck it again with OSB (or plywood) and roof it on top. Looks like your insulation will be installed between the trusses, then the interor ceilings (drywall or something) will be installed below that... I've never seen that method detailed. Please provide more pics as they complete that part of the project!
