Once they're warmed up they do (which I guess means no). If there was a clutch they would, but you're fighting the stiff oil in the pump on the actual first couple pulls. It was 17F this morning here. What do you have, a bin for the corn? Buy by the bag or truckload or what?

Jake

We buy from a local elevator, a guy I went to school with. We bought for a long time at a lot of different places until we found his place. Being clean is key, and dry too. 14%, triple cleaned works awesome. We buy 40kg (88 lbs) bags.

I'm going to have to search on elevator now, being a carpenter myself... Do you have to tip? only kidding...

What is it burning, kearnels, or chopped up plants or what? I guess if it's cleaned it must be kernals.

I want to sign this 'Col. Sanders' but I shouldn't...

What is an 40kg bag worth down there? We pay $10-$12 up here at the co-op. Might be worth a trip down......

Wehave not hooked the stove up yet, but from what I hear, $12 will be the price. I will let you know for sure.

Well, to kinda put this thread back on track..... I waffled about for a year or so, trying to decide if I wanted to go with a stand alone unit, or a 3 pt unit. I ended up building a 3pt unit with a PTO powered pump on it. I've been very happy with it. I can run it all day long, with my tractor barely above an idle, on about 3 gals of fuel. Running the tractor is much quieter than having a small engine running in your face all day too (a benefit I didn't consider until after I built and started using it).

There have been many opinions shared in this thread. Obviously there are many ways to skin this cat... I like not having another engine to take care of, and that I can lift the splitter to a comfortable height. Yes, it would be handy if I could use the tractor to move split wood around before I'm done splitting all I have to split, but for me not having it for that it is a small concession.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
