OP wanted inexpensive. This is inexpensive and will supply the same pressure and flow for just as long as anything else suggested for a fraction of the cost. Not a state of the art installation but nobody claimed it is. Sometimes you just have to read the question to understand it.

Personally, I'd minimize monetary input until I knew the system would operate the splitter satisfactorily.

My thoughts exactly, if it works fine I definitely would like to go the power beyond route. But at this point I can't even figure out what make the loader valve is to get the power beyond plug/adapter. Thanks again everyone for the input.

It is NOT a half xxx anything.
It is a simple and inexpensive way to get a job done.
No since in pi**ing money away if not needed, especially for small jobs and trials.

And always present point for 1) failure to engage and 2) failure to hold for a variety of reasons.
Yes it can work, but if a hook slips that valve develops issues, the bungee breaks and on and on and on in the midst of splitting wood, you have to remember it is a potential problem. One that is very simple to avoid! The very reason it is continually re-mentioned!

Just do your "temporary fix" (experiment) in a quality way as they tend to become permeant.....
