Here are two videos from Day 5. On this day I was by myself and managed to get the splash boards up all the way around and grits on the two sides.

Day 5b - Youtube

I hope these links are working for everyone.

Days seven and eight. These two are the last of the videos for now. At least until I get out there next week to do more work. I hope you all are enjoying.

Day 7 - Youtube

Day 8 - Youtube

That should bring everyone up to date with the barn being left as seen here:

Enjoyed the videos...

Good call on the perma columns...

Looks like no west coast distributors when I checked the website.

That stinks. I am sure shipping would be out of the question. The 29 poles I ordered where 9000 lbs according to supply house and boy that wouldn't be cheap to move across the country. Bummer.

Thanks, some days it has been just me and a couple days I had a helper. Of, course having to come back and work a real job put a halt to the barn. Although tomorrow a friend of mine is supposed to stop by the house with his Porter Cable stair jig. He uses it to router the stringers to accept the treads and risers. If he is ok with it I am going to try and get some pictures of the jig and assembly process.

A quick question:

Has anyone used Tyvek between the purlins and metal siding (walls only)? And if so why?

Thanks for any input on this.

I was having a tour thru the Canadian National Research council labs and got to discuss membrane air barriers with one of the researchers.
He said their real world experiments showed the flexible membranes like tyvek act like pump diaphragms and actually draw water into the wall system.
Air pressure changes flex the tyvek and produce the pumping action.
To work properly the membrane air barriers needed to be fully supported. Putting the tyvek between two layers of plywood worked best.

Lee, a few photo's would be appreciated. Videos can be hard for those of us with lousy internet connections. Great job.
