They give you gift certicates to local restaraunts etc. If you save enough they have some electronics also. My six year old keeps them in a lunch box in his room is going saving up to buy us dinner.
You have been had my friend. Call the sheriffs department and your local county auditors office. A ton is 2000 lbs pure and simple. Do not let the yard take advantage of you. I did one time and called the people that enforce the law. went back at their request and had my truck scaled in and out. drove to the nearest certifed scale and found my truck to be 300# heavier on the certified scales. Yard claimed it made no difference but the auditor thought otherwise. Prices are now based on 2000# ton. I of course have to scrap someplace else. A ton is the same every place. Do not be fooled.

On the taxes, if you pay #1000.00 and pay the tax. Now you only use $900.00 and junk the cut offs. It looks like to me the state should send back the tax money on the $100.00. Not only that the gov should pay you for going with that GO Green bs. Recycle!!!!!!!

A net ton is 2000lb. A gross ton or long ton is not. But it is still an approved way to buy and sell material. It just caught me off guard because they are the only yard around that does it. Yes it is a bit deceiving, but still legal.
