You folks need to sharpen your negotiating skills /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I got 2 hats, 2 keychains, 2 shirts and 2 beer coozies.

The fact I was dealing with the owner at 4:00 pm Saturday afternnon may have had something to do with it though /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had been there for 4 hours and he would probably have given me the keys to the store to get rid of me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Does anyone have any experience with these? Especially the LandTrac LT 300 or 360? Thanks)

OK Getting back to this.

The machines are capable. As I said, I have a buddy that has one and it turns on a dime and does great.. I looked at it closely.

The problems are the dealer network is pretty slim. Our dealer is a tire store. The problems my friend has had are all dealer related.

The distribution through Long is a little iffy. Try talking to them, and take a good look at their website. I am sorry, but there is really no excuse for ANY company not to have a great website to sell and support their products. I think this is an area where any David should be able to slay Goliaths.

And the pricing was no great savings. A gear model was the same as my hydrostatic. If I wanted gear I could have gotten a Deere for signficantly LESS than Purple. And the Deere eReverser doesn't require clutching to change directions.

Financing was another weakness. At the time, Deere was 0 Down and 4.9%, Long was 20% Down and 8.9%

It might be differant when and where you shop. I just mean that you should compare the other brands. I never would have guessed that I could get a Deere for less than a Long. I saw similiar situations with Kubota and New Holland.

But the tractor itself is a fine machine.

Hi there. If you don't mind elaborating a bit, I'd like to know more about what you find objectionable about the Long loaders. I am looking at a 390HST with the 5140M Loader. I know that the cycle time is slower on the long that say Kubota. The other specs I've seen look pretty good from what I know but I am and extreme rookie at this. Thanks for any input you may have.

I have a Landtrac 410dtc with a long 5340 loader. I am very happy with the tractor. I have a very good dealer has been in business 30 years and does his own repairs. I had used a 360dtc with loader and found it to be a very powerful tractor but went with the 410dtc because at the time there was a rebate on it and I got it for what the 360 cost. I was at the dealer the other day for filters and was looking at the a 300dtc with a loader I thought the loader didn't look very heavy. The dealer had told me he liked the Woods loader better than the long in that size. I thought it looked lighter than the one I had used. Long has been around along time the dealer has been selling Long for years only line of tractors he sells. He said he wouldn't still be selling them if he thought parts were going to be an issue. As far as resale I haven't come across any Landtracs used in my area. He has several being used by area farms with no complaints.I like Ed went with the Landtrac because I thought I was getting the most for my money when I compared to a Deere 990, don't care for the 4000 series, Price was same but long had more strandard features and a bigger loader. Hope this helps

Dwight,
Thanks for the feedback on your LONG . I really liked the 390HST . The power seemed great and having the extra features - remotes, position ctrl and draft ctrl.

Does the 5140 have different buckets available? If so, which do you have?

It is gonna be a tough choice. I will have to drive them some more and do some serious dealer interviews.. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
