I don't mind if you use them in other threads for illustration purposes and referencing photo credit to me.

But, using one of them as your avatar just feels a bit like identity theft. Every time I would see one of your posts, I would say hey that's me... Oops, not really... I use that one or similar ones in other forums and may rotate it to this one...

One thing I just remembered... Early last spring, this area of my property burned (decades of down ferns each year). I would never mow it because it was so thick, I couldn't see what was underneath. So, shortly after the burn, I ensured that all rocks, sticks, and anything else was clear and rotary cut the remaining brush sticks. Now, I had confidence to mow wherever whenever I desired. So, as Spring and Summer progressed, I let it mostly grow back, but mowed some paths, sort of like a maze. There are a few areas that were growing thick thistles mixed in with the ferns. I decided this year that I was going to mow them down before they went to seed. By the time I did that, the ferns and thistle were 5 to 8 feet tall. Well, I just drove the X749 through it with little issues. Only had to back up a few times to allow the deck to clear itself. And, that occurred only in the thickest patches where the tall growth was still on the right of the deck. Anywhere where it was clear on the right of the deck was no problem...

I just picked up an Exmark ZTR with a 72" deck. Yup, all it does is mow, but it mows awfully quickly with a really nice cut. You can even get it with a striping kit if you want to make your grass look really nice. It just eats up grass...mine would be too big for 1/4 acre size areas, and there are tons of ZTR solutions out there.

I would caution you about ZTRs, though... if you're going to have various operators, the ZTRs have the "ability" to tear the turf up, and they are also prone to loss of control on slopes. Gotta be careful with them. I'll just say this - I am the mechanic at a golf course and none of our many mowers are ZTRs, and I don't know of a course in our area that uses them.

On the other hand we have many different mowers for various types of situations....

If you get a tractor with a mower attachment, you'll need to pay attention to the tires you put on it. Turf tires (many varieties available) will keep the grass from getting torn up, but are lousy when you're trying to move dirt with a loader or such (poor traction).

Another issue with tractors for mowing - they're usually heavier than single purpose mowers, which will cause extra soil compaction and / or turf damage. For better turf care, remove any extra attachments (FEL comes to mind) when mowing.

1*How did it catch on fire?
2*nice, well i was offered a job at a hardware store full time this summer so i dont think the x749 is needed
2*So does the job mean you're giving up the lawn care company ?

One thing I can say about ferris it rides better(soaks up the bumps better)than a kubota.I know because I had a ferris ZTR before I bought my Kubota ZTR.coobie
