tractor plans are on the back burner for now...

Trailerability is an issue, but not a huge one. We used to tow a 8k lb boat around a decent bit, so we can do it.

I'm going to spend some time messing with the little bit of cleared area we have for now and over the near-term, do some planning on what I want done to the property before going "all in," so to say.

I do appreciate y'alls help. Still liking the Yanmars, too. May look into an upper-20's HP machine now. I'm just not exactly sure how much I will be using this thing. I do know, once I have one, I'll be "making" work...

Just remember a 20 hp machine and a 29 hp machine will do the same work basically as well as a 35hp machine, its just how long it takes to do the work.

Good choice. If you were around my area id say come drive and help disk some of my fields with me so you know how the 2000 handles an actual implement, something you cant get a grasp of just driving one around.

This depends on the type of work, mowing and light scraping I would agree. But there are limitations to what certain HP can do. 20hp machine will not pull up large tree roots when plowing regardless of the amount of time you spend on it, a 100 hp machine will.

Correct, but he said he had a track hoe to grub the stumps first. I toatlly agree with what you saying though smoody. There is a difference between a 65hp tractor and a 8ft boxblade and my 24hp tractor and a 4 ft boxblade!

Wanted to thank y'all...ended up buying a 2005 Massey Ferguson 1533 with 4 in 1 FEL for a pretty good price from CL. Ended up knowing the seller so I feel pretty confident about it.

Tractor is now at dealer waiting to get serviced and checked out for anything we may have missed.

You did good! Come back and tell us about it.

Funny how some have heard this, some haven't. I never heard it until I was working for a Japanese-American building contractor, a guy raised in Hawaii inside pure Japanese-immigrant culture until he got drafted into WWII and served in the famous 442nd Batallion. That was the Japanese-American Army troops who saved the tails of an outnumbered group of American soldiers in Italy or someplace, with record heavy casualties. Interesting guy, modest, mangled English badly. I worked with him a long time before I heard about his background. He had a lot of euphemisms like that. But the funniest contractor I worked for mixed English words and the Czech (Polish?) grammar he had learned at home - realizing he was funny. " I should of stood in bed!!"
