I have never heard anyone complain that they had too much horsepower.

Im facing the same conundrum. I am leaning now toward getting the L4760, but can't shake the feeling that it would foolish to not upgrade to the L6060 for another 4k or so. I realize L6060 had the category 2 hitch option, a turbo, and few more hundred pounds of weight. I wonder If I'd be fine with the L4760. Is there any perks that I might not realize with the L4760. Less thirsty? Perhaps it is better to have no turbo and just a naturally aspirated engine? My chores will be having fun on 20 acres. Snow blowing half mile paved driveway, bush hogging a few acres a few times a year, and grappling anything I can get my hands on. Please put and end to my suffering. Tell me something powerful to make my decision. Thank you

I will add to your confusion, My Grand L3560 has completed the dirt work, pushing and dragging trees, and mowing without any issues. The only thing I can't answer is how it would do snow blowing.

A turbo helps counter altitude. Living on Colorado (-15-20% HP due to altitude) & not having one on my L4060 hurts at times.

The L3560 & L4060 have a lighter front axle. Which means we are also limited to the small or medium loader. The bug loader would be nice, but isnt critical to me.

What kind of mower? My 8' flail struggles in thick stuff with only 40hp. Jumping up to a 6060 would be relevant for heavy growth and going wide on a mower. Not really worth it for a narrower mower. I'm limited by rough terrain & bouncing around as often as HP. More power doesnt help that. 40hp is ok for 5-10 acres a week as a side gig. I want a L4760 or 6060, but couldnt justify it or the increased payments.

I ran a 62" blower on 32hp here in CO before upgrading. It wasn't to bad & we get drifts. I suspect blowing will be less HP. For me at least I couldnt just let er rip. I had to manage obstacles, gravel, corners & drifts. Probably different on a smooth paved driveway. I'd still plow if possible as it's way faster. Then do a single pass with the blower on the last windrow if needed.

The only real value of the bigger Grands is the bigger loader or doing PTO work or roading up hills. 40hp is about right traction wise for work. So any extra HP wont do anything useful for ground engagement work.

I have an L6060. I also have both larger and smaller tractors and did not consider any other L model other than the 6060 when shopping for mine.

It's easy to spend another's money, of course, but $2,400 seems a small price to pay for the 6060 over the 4760.

I read that you do not plan to mow, which is just about the only task for which I use my 6060, but, FWIW, I frequently use ALL of the 6060 HP (and want more) when mowing with a 6' HD cutter.

Perhaps no snow in western WA, but keep in mind that snow blowers suck HP.

I bought a L5740HSTC for pretty much the same reasons, we also have an M8540HDC, 72HP MF375 and several smaller.

After massive amounts of thinking I have decided to go with the 60 horse. Now its down to the Kubota L6060 or the Kioti NX6010. The price difference is 6k. Kioti is $46,500 and the L6060 is $52,500. This is my last hurdle. The Kioti seems solid from what little I got to drive it around on the test drive. I know the L6060 to be solid because I had one for a short while. The 6k savings would pay for the pronovost 74" rear inverted snow blower. Everyone on this site seems to love their Kioti. The only real negative I see is resale if I ever decided to sell. My Kubota L6060 sold right away when I posted it for sale. I couldn't believe someone bought it for only 4k less than a brand new one. I got $47,500 for it with 89 hours on it. But I wont ever make the mistake of selling my tractor again. Stupidest thing I ever did in my life. My punishment for being stupid is agonizing for weeks over what tractor to buy next.

If you think about the money in the tractor as a loan to yourself, then the purchase price doesn't matter, only the difference between the purchase price and the sale price matters. I suspect the extra you pay for a Kubota you'd make back when you sell it. Having said that, Kiotis are good machines. I'd buy a Kubota myself, but not based on any actual solid evidence. Same reason I drive an Audi when a Toyota would do just fine.

You did say earlier that one of the key tasks of your tractor was having fun. In that world, the tractor that makes you happy when you sit on it is absolutely the one to buy. Spending $46K for a tractor that doesn't make you happy is a waste of $46K. Spending $52K on a tractor that makes you happy is money well spent. Only you can decide which one makes you happy.

My brother has a Kioti and quality seems to be on a par with Kubota. I've done so much business with our Kubota dealer, I get great deals and service when needed the Kioti dealer is in another state.

You might check the thread Eric the Oracle did when he bought his new Kioti.

I looked at all the available tractors when I bought/upgraded in 2009. I bought the M6040. It's a heavier tractor than the L6040 and had all the "bells & whistles" I will ever need. I have a mile long gravel driveway and I DO use a heavy Rhino rear blade to plow snow & for summer maintenance.

There have been times that I wished for a larger tractor, only a very few. I've never regretted trading in my smaller tractor.

After ten years I've finally upgraded all but one of my implements to Class 2. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference in weight, abilities and $$$ when going this way.

My 80 acres is very open. Only bunch grass, ancient Ponderosa pine and two lakes. My 80 acres is a mile off the paved county road and is a mere "dot" when compared to the thousands of acres of open range land in all directions. Cattle in all directions - wheat to the south.

I had to make a decision. Keep the smaller tractor and do little with the land OR get a larger tractor and go with my proposed projects.
