Sorry to hear about your troubles. You should have no trouble finding work. In the oil fields of Canada, I heard that if you have a heavy equipment mechanic ticket, you can pretty much write your own pay cheque. Not that I can suggest this country as a good home for any long term stay!

Ever hear "Nice Guys Finish Last"? The scum always floats to the top. You only have to look at the Politicians at the very top, or Wall street for proof of this.

If you do things for other people or your employer, never make assumptions about being compensated or even recognized.

EDIT: One very important thing. When looking for a job, leave all that baggage you wrote about out of the matter. It does raise RED flags to a prospective employer. There are two sides to every story. Make up something if you have to as to why you left. I know it's always harder (if impossible) to get a job (or a woman for that matter lol) when you don't have one. It's just another one of those cruel and unfair human circumstances.

North Dakota and Texas are both going through an oil boom right now. Can't speak to North Dakota first hand, but I can tell you in Texas, they are begging for workers. If you are up for a change of scenery, you may have to relocate, but you will surely find a good paying job that will appreciate your strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Sorry to hear of your unemployment. I know you dont want to leave your home, but if you need a temporary job, they are desperate for diesel mechanics in Midland and Odessa Texas. I dont know what a mechanic makes, but I have seen ads here showing 95-100 per hour . I do know that you can get as many hours as you can stand at some places.
Best of luck- Hard working Honest people always come thru in the end.

Oh man. Sorry to hear about the job loss. The other guys just may have felt threatened by your professionalism, it happens because I've seen it happen but with some companies the almighty dollar is all that counts and that will eventually catch up with them.

All that being said I have ALWAYS found that when one door closes two more open. Just think of your situation now as a stepping stone for better things to come and believe me, THEY WILL COME. :thumbsup:
