what if any license is necessary? could you contact the drivers and start servicing the trucks yourself? Perhaps someone owning a garage that wants to retire would be an alternative or a garage that wants to expand their business, diesel mechanics should be in demand with all the diesel pickups and C.U.T.'s

. I have been thinking about checking out the tractor dealerships nearby. There is case, John Deere, Massey ferguson, kubota, and bobcat just to name a few. Working in a truck shop is a lot of drama. The problems can be worked out but they make it tough to find work. I don't have a CDL and other things so it's tougher to find a job at another truck shop . In a hurry I will check out working on farm tractors because I have so much knowledge on them already. Sounds enjoyable

2 years as of January 11 2014 as a full time truck mechanic. I worked hard and never called off work. I was honest and got the job done effectively not taking short cuts. Others lied and were unprofessional. Others were rude to ALL management. I showed up with a 2 wd pickuptruck when it snowed hard and was -14F. It was illegal to drive on the roads. Others called off. I was the only one of two people to show up. I would spend 12 hours plowing our 40 acre trailer lot and didn't get paid all of it because taxes takes a lot of my money being I am unmarried and don't own a home. Others have cheated the system and stayed for 8 plus years being unproffesional.

Why is it quanity has became more important than quality. Im trying to buy a home because im throwing away 1200$ a month on an apartment where all promises have been broken.

went to college and did my time to become a heavy truck mechanic, before that I went to a tech school DURING high school on half of every day at a diesel technology school.

I live in Whitestown Indiana North west of Indianapolis Indiana. IF you need a hard working honest man who would not lie or cheat what your paying him to do contact me :)

They have been trying to fire me for a year now. They didn't like how I did the job right. They being other mechanics. Drivers would come to me for help and I never made them feel stupid. Mechanics didn't like me because they choose me over themselves. The drivers knew I would fix their truck so they could make it home to their familys safely.

Since when did quanity go over the importance of quality.......?????

They were mad because it took me 3 hours to service a truck as I went over the list as required. Others it takes one hour as all they do is change the oil and wipe grease on grease fittings, never check anything or wash the truck as I do.

again im in Whitestown Indiana. I can operate heavy equipment and have for all my life. I have went to two tech schools for diesel technology and im in debt because of college
I came in today early and they asked me to step into the office, A truck I serviced had not been "greased". They showed me the photos. I always grease trucks. I treat every service or repair as it were my own vehicle. I treat the drivers as it were myself tring to get home to family safely with the company semi.

I had been set up. Other mechanics don't check tires don't repair drivers seats and lie lie lie on all their paper work. They have been there a long long time.
There's two job openings for a diesel mechanic at a waste hauler in Niles, MI, just north of South Bend, IN. I realize its 2.5 hours north of you, but the cost of living in South Bend is dirt cheap, as in, you can get a house for under $30k. PM me if you're interested.

Good luck to the op, and PLEASE realize how important the below quote is.

EDIT: One very important thing. When looking for a job, leave all that baggage you wrote about out of the matter. It does raise RED flags to a prospective employer. There are two sides to every story. Make up something if you have to as to why you left. I know it's always harder (if impossible) to get a job (or a woman for that matter lol) when you don't have one. It's just another one of those cruel and unfair human circumstances.

Go find a job.
I don't know any mechanic flipping hamburgers to pay the rent.
If you're a mechanic there's always a job opening. Even so-so and outright bad wrenches have jobs because there's not enough mechanics to match demand.
Stop whining and go find a job.

As an ex claims adjuster for 50 plus years, the one thing it taught me was there are always 2 sides to the story!

Its sounds like they did you a favor. Do you really want to work some where they don't want quality work?

Like others have said, don't take the bad experience from your previous job into the next one, it won't help.

And my last advice, and this is the hard part. Take a good hard look at what happened in your last job. Is there things you could have done different? Even if what you said is 100% correct, maybe you should have seen the writing on the wall and been looking for a job sooner. Its really hard to take an honest look at your self and see things you could have done to improve the situation. One thing for sure, in 10 years I bet you look back at this and realize what a favor they did for you.

Tough situation.

Keep in mind, it's the bosses you have to please. They decide how much mix of quality and quantity they can afford and want. Both are important.

In your next job don't compete against company goals.

Look for a situation in which you and the company can have complimentary goals.

Sounds like you got good skills. Keep a positive attitude and you'll eventually be in good shape.

Today I have made progress by calling mahindra, case, and the kubota dealers. The mahindra dealer in mooresville said they need my help. My experience is in diesel highway trucks, I have worked on excavators, maintained 110 propane Toyota forklifts on a dock, of course farm tractors, etc. things are looking up!
