3* At that point I considered selling the BX, since it was really overkill for the place and the 60" mower deck was responsible for more turning then mowing.

My BX23 will do the same after I've worked it for a couple hrs.I hear a high pitched wine coming from the back with the tractor sitting still. It's nothing loud but, I can hear it. This is a 2004 with just a little over 400 hours.
That's about what I figured, I just wanted to make sure. The Power Trac I had made a different whining sound mostly under load. Thanks for the reply.Volfandt said:My BX23 will do the same after I've worked it for a couple hrs.
If it doesn't get any worse or have any scrapeing (metal on metal) or clanging sounds you should be OK.
HST's by their nature are whiners![]()

Well sounds great.... With all of those tractors who would have time to work on one..LBrown59 said:1*Just got my 2003 BX1500 on 11/8/7.
It had 380 hours on the clock.
Seems excellent so far except it needs a new right end for the seat belt.
The buckle won't snap into it.
Dealer is sending me a new one this week some time.
One tail lite is out / haven'f had time to put a new bulb in it yet.
2*So do I, but I figured I would if it was any thing like my bx23.
Love That Tractor.
Just like my BX23 it constantly amazes me.
3*Y shure Y not.
*I've never wanted anything bigger than my BX23 but for the last couple of years I've been wanting a smaller BX1500 to go with it.====docspencer said:So far, the BX has been wonderful. It's my first SCUT - before all we had was a Cub 2160 lawn tractor.
*Occaisionally, I wish I had a bigger tractor, but generally this one is just great.
I have empty ags on mine and have no plans to change them .MMCSKPD said:Wow... I don't think my BX-23 was that clean and bright the day it arrived from the dealer. I have 330 hours in 3 years and it looks like its been in a Mud Bog most of its life. I sure love it. I put down 23 ton of 2A limestone with it today. I finally broke down and put BX-24 front wheels and R4 tires on it last week and I got them Foamed. I have had 12 flats and had to replace 2 tires since I got the BX. As soon as I can raise the money for new rear tires and $400 worth of Foam, I'll be putting them on. The foam on the fronts was $52/tire and foaming the Rears will be $206/tire.
My 2 make a real cute couple.RobJ said:It's Cute!
3 years and 900 + hours on mine.DiezNutz said:3.5 years and only 200 hours ?!! Probably still has that new tractor smell!
C'mon Man, you gotta get to work!![]()
I hear ya... the only wheelbarrow I own is this 30HP 4WD one. Some days that's all it gets used for....good excuse as any.
Yep, I would like to see him line them all up for a few shots..jcpwrsprt said:Let's see your "cute couple"![]()
Barryh said:.... Next weekend I'll change out the SUDT fluid and a add a new filter, along with changing the oil filter and adding synthetic Mobil one.
...Next weekend I'll clean it and shine it up a little. Could use a little touch up paint as well.
Thanks for the tip on the hydraulic systems filter. Any other tips from anyone are welcome. From what I can tell this machine hasn't been abused but, from the looks of everything has been as you put it, ill-maintained. That is a form of abuse in it's self. So I won't be working it hard until everything is up to par. I need to find all of the grease zerks while I'm at it.BX2230_Lockport said:Don't forget to clean the hydraulic systems filter screen on the side of the differential when you change the fluid. It sounds like that one has been abused or at least, ill-maintained. The amount of metal particles will neither point out if it has never been cleaned or simply abused. Unfortunately you will never know which. The fewer the better, however!
Kudos to the thread. Yesterday evening, I took my BX2230 and finished a small trench for spring thaw with the Wood's Groundbreaker-X (BH6000), scooped the loaded piles of earthen clumps with the loader (how do you turn up the lift?) and made numerous trips to the field, got back in the garage by dark and by kerosene heater (and a tall Ardbeg on the rocks) dropped off the loader and BH, stowed away in the garage for winter, put the arms back on the 3PH, took off the BX grill guard, hitched, leveled and snugged the ballast box, loaded on the front Quick Hitch hyraulic lift (spelling or scotch?...you decide) and proceeded to hitch the BX2750B front mount snow blower. Finally, connected the long and short PTO shafts, bolted the manual chute rotator arm, tested and parked to wait for the first snow.
Yup, does just about anything doesn't it?![]()
