its happened... there is a youtube video of a guy who no longer is able to get warranty work done. LS said they will send him the parts and he can do the work him self or figure out a way to get it done. But it was because he was bashing the dealer doing the work and not so much LS.

Companies don't like negative publicity from Youtube videos, but this thread is hardly that, and the OP is not bashing his dealer or LS for that matter, IMO.

This is the first time I'm seeing such a concentration of negativity regarding LS. I'm surprised. All my pre- & post-purchase research turned up mostly glowing reviews.

How can they be doing such a bad job selling these tractors? The XR4140H I bought is the same tractor as a NH Boomer 40 and a Case IH Farmall 40C, with more standard features and for thousands less. It seems to me NH and IH should be worried about competition from LS, but from the tone of this thread (which I don't doubt; I bought my tractor from a lawnmower dealer - didn't give that much thought until now), there is nothing to fear at all. From this thread it seems they're a joke, at least at the corporate level. How can that be? How can it be so hard to sell the same tractor for thousands less? Is there any hope?

Maybe I should open a tractor dealership. I bet I could sell the crap out of them. Buy a lot right across from my local NH dealership and arrange a line of all the exact same tractors they have lined up across the street, mirror image, with big signs showing "their" price next to "our" price. They ought to sell themselves.

,,,,,,,,,, with big signs showing "their" price next to "our" price. They ought to sell themselves.

The things that I see selling higher priced tractors is little things like a nice showroom,,, and financing,,,

I am shocked at what zero percent financing does for sales,, I bought a new truck because of zero percent,,
heck,, my new truck cost the EXACT number of dollars as my previous truck, within $100,,
The new truck is 19 years newer, and has WAY more features,, and 60 more horsepower,,,
both trucks are 3/4 ton,, and snowplow ready versions,,

The same with tractors,, the new ones have some nice features,, that are often deleted on lower cost models,,
I am amazed at some of the new features,,,
but,, not amazed enough to buy a new tractor,,,

The tractor has been FLAWLESS, The emissions on the other hand have been HORRENDOUS! Jumped out yesterday to load firewood in the bucket and when i got back in the red exclamation point on the bottom left of the instrument cluster was on and ONE regen light was on. This time RPM's where not limited. I kicked the throttle up to 2200rpm but it still took almost 10 minutes before the second DPF light would turn on and took just over 45 minutes to regen. The whole time the tractor was useless as it's a gear drive not a hydro and i wasn't going to burn up the clutch engaging it @ 2200 RPM. I did end up using the 3 point wood splitter for about 10 minutes of that time. My only solution at this point is to ride it out till the warranty is up next July and rip all this emissions garbage off. I can't justify trading on a new LS as the SN is in the system with all the issues and no dealer want's it. Can't trade it on anything else without loosing my *** either.........

I bought the smaller tractor because it has no real emission controls, no DPF, no regen.

As a homeowner / hobby farmer I would not even think of financing anything that is farm related, because it is not a necessity. I'm sure I could hire any work done cheaper than having my own equipment.

OK, now I get it. Of the complaints I have seen, nearly all of them have been about the tractor being "useless" during regen. I haven't noticed any affect at all of the regen, and I wondered what all the fuss was about. Not all tractors are HST.

If i use the tractor normally during regen it ends up going into limp mode every time. Therefore i have to let it run at 2200RPM or more and leave it sit.......

Mine went into regen with no issues. First light came on, turned it up to 2200 rpm, later 2nd light came on, I continued to work, first light went out, a little smell, less than 10 minutes later, 2nd light went out. I continued to work the whole time, gear tractor.

The difference is due to the different engines. The way I understand it, the newer XR41xx has a different engine than the XR40xx series for example. LS is the actual manufacture of the engine for the 41xx and, to be honest, I forgot who makes the 4 cylinder 40xx series. BUT, when the tractor decides to regen, for how long, and even 'limp mode' is different. For example, my tractor (XR4145C) just did a regen at 48hrs. I fire-walled the throttle and let it go into regen. I was actually at a stop, engine at about 1300rpm, loading some bricks into the FEL when i heard it. I jumped into the cab and let 'er rip. I then drove around and continued to do my work as normal. I did not see a decrease in performance or any adverse issues, and the cycle lasted maybe 10 minutes. My dealer told me to expect the tractor to regen every 50hrs or so, but will let me know when it is ready. I can also dismiss the regen cycle for a bit.

For me, this is a non-issue. I do not like it, but I deal with it. If you have the older 4-cylinder engine that regens every 10hrs or whatever, then I dont know what to tell you. Deleting it may be your only option.

As far as my dealer goes, I have paid close attention to him (as they are the only ones in the area). He deals in multiple brands of tractors and runs his dealership with only himself and his brother (no other employees, though I think he mentioned he was going to hire a helper in the shop?). My friend bought a Mihindra from him YEARS ago, and this dealer was slammed back then. He is STILL slammed now. Seems like every time I drive by his lot, he has new tractors and equipment. Everytime I talk to him, I ask him how busy he is, his one word response is "BUSY!"

If that is any indication of how things are going for LS, I am not worried. I love my tractor, it has had it's issues and I work though them. The tractor has done everything I have asked for it is young life and I hope that it will continue. Keep it maintained, do your research into problems, and I am sure you will be happy with LS. I am!

So are you engaging the clutch at 2200??? Also your in a warm climate. According to the Western rep rarely and problems down south. I don't start having issues till it gets below 50 most of the time. 20 below and it won't complete regen for over an hour......
