303 is made for older tractors and should not be used.
Thanks Underdog,did not know that.
I ended up not using the 303,went with NH ambra g-134 5 gal bucket. Please do not use 303!!! Any good quality name brand hydraulic oil is OK. For a hydrostatic transmission you should use the best oil you can buy, and lots of oils are very good, but synthetic is the best. It says on the 303 bucket that it should not be used in any machines made after 1970, and it does not meet any specifications for modern equipment. It is cheap to buy because it is made with unknown low quality base oil and other questionable ingredients, and has no additives in it like viscosity stabilizers, anti-foam agents, anti-wear or moisture resistance like good quality oils have. There was a class action lawsuit against the companies marketing 303 because it is very poor oil that does not meet the standards that they claimed it did. Unbelievable that a dealer would tell you it was OK to use that crap. They obviously know nothing about oil or warranty. LS warranty policy specifically states that failures from using improper lubricants are not covered, but how would they find out? They are getting stricter on warranty, but they don't require an oil sample for analysis when submitting a warranty claim like the big farm equipment manufacturers do. (Not yet.)
