Lx178 won’t start

Have a lx 178 that has not started correctly for the past year. 12 volts to starter. Replaced starter and solenoid with spare one. Tried new battery. If tap starter a bunch of time it will start and run fine. Cleaned all connectors. Here click at relay but starter doesn’t spin or engage. Any thoughts thank you

If you tap the starter a bunch of times and it starts, did the old starter act the same way or have you replaced one problem with another? You could take both starters to a shop which specializes in starter repair and have them checked.

Have you checked all of the related stupid safety switches?

Usually that is the solenoid, but have you checked for voltage drop to the starter on both the trigger and main lug?

So it turns out to be a bad relay. Had a 4 prong from another mower and started right up with jumper pack and battery charge. New relay on the way. Thank You
