M5040 or M6040?

   / M5040 or M6040? #21
I know my openstation 5040 is great but I dont know about if it had a cab on it,that going to take alot of HP away and the 6040 runs larger rear tires. Just my suggestion physical size is going to be close to the same but the extra HP running a/c,heater and such I would go with the 6040 over the 5040 but that just my opinion. I will suggestion on either to widen tires out not the full width but were they just stick out fender about 6in. 5040 and ds1440 rear view.JPG(click on pic.and can zoom in on tires),will really help on the tippy feeling.

Hey thanks for your reply I appreciate an experienced opinion. That is one big mower! I will probably look at either the 6040 or 7040.

Thats the 12ft,I wouldnt suggest it to anyone,go with a 12ft batwing unless you have leave ground it will scalp,a pain to haul, and better have wide gates.
I really like my 5040 hate to talk bad about it,glad it cant hear me:laughing: But just wonted to be honest that I didnt think it would be the wonderful little tractor with a cab on it that it is. I use it twice as much as the 7040,just easier to haul to the lease places and etc. I wish they would put alittle wider front tires on the 7040 and gotta watch the parking brakes,so many times have I drove off with it on. Well I'll stop rambling....

I have a question, when you say lifting the tree do you mean lifting the whole tree to place it on a processor or are you talking about lifting the butt to drag it?

I do alot of hand cutting so I prefer to lift the whole tree to waste height, much much easier on the back. I also stack the full length logs/trees when I am just backing up material.

The only question I would ask is at what elevation do you work at? You loose power as you go up, that is why I went with a turbo charged machine.

3 years ago the smallest turbo M was the 8540.
I should have known it wouldn't stay that way long.
