FYI, they have no connection to Kubota corporate, or even a dealer. They are an independant repair shop.

Actually, if you search the home page videos, credit is given to Deen Implement, a Kubota dealer in Texas. I guess "Doc Kubota" is listed as an official host for the dealer representing Kubota. I notice Messick Farm Eqip. is also listed on the website.
Just gives equipment operators like me another place to have questions answered

Which means we can say whatever we want about either! We do have our fair share of Kubota techs from various dealerships that frequent the site and offer their 2 cents - something that we all very much appreciate.

Well, it had to happen to one of us. I ran the M59 out of fuel. Just back from vacation and turned the fuel tap the wrong way...

How about it....has anyone dealt with this on the M59? Any hints?

I think the procedure to get her started again will be the same one as changing the fuel filter. Just open the bleed vent thumb screw and let her run with for 30 seconds or so then close the vent and you should be good to go. Check in the manual under the procedure for changing the fuel filter.

Yes. That's what I mean by "fuel tap". I should refer to it as the petcock on the forward face of the fuel filter housing. (hmm....why not face it out where we can see it instead of forward?).

Thanks to Kubota, the fuel filter assembly has clearly marked "on" and "off" positions for the petcock handle cast right into the aluminum housing. It's my problem that I never can remember which end of the petcock handle is supposed to point at the "on or off" printed on the casting@!!. Is it the lever end or the pointed end of the handle? And if I could remember which way to turn, it still wants a flashlight or mirror to see the markings clearly....

Dear Kubota: "Why not face the fuel petcock outwards where we can see and handle it conveniently?"

...which reminds me that used to ride a BMW motorcycle on which the petcock did face out but nontheless worked backwards from any other petcock in the world.....whichever way backwards is.....anyway, I now blame my confusion on that experience.

Cold, windy, & snowy today. I'll work on it later this weekend.

Yes, I turned it off when I went on vacation. Partly for security and partly just trying to be a good, caring Kubota owner.

The problem was that I hadn't really turned it off; I only thought that I had. So I dutifully checked that chore off the "to do for vacation" list before we left. And then when we got back I made sure to turn the petcock back the other way before starting the motor....which meant that I was actually turning the petcock off because it had never had been really turned at all before I left....and well ....shucks.... what can I say....?

All in all, I think it's wisest for me to leave the petcock alone from now on. And I've probably developed a greater empathy for what my students have to contend with.
