I'm finding it a little amazing... and a bit troubling... that so many folks here on TBN are willing to act as supporters, rationalizers and apologists for the latest spat of Chinese poisons and other blatantly, criminally defective products hitting our shores. Why the free ride??? Where is this sentiment coming from??? A need to keep priced down at the local Walmart?

Lord knows I don't have all the answers about how to turn this pathetic situation around... other than to buy American every last chance we get. Those chances are clearly dwindling fast... but there are still a few opportunities out there if you look hard enough.

Hey Dougster maybe the asians learned all about the corruption etc. from dealing with the americans.

The old saying what's good for the goose is good for the gander. (SP?) I don't object at all to you being upset with a corrupt oversea goverment , corp. or whatever, but on the same token you are willing to keep buying USA which clearly has world wide problems with corruption. Enron , BF Goodrich etc etc ring a bell?

Money brings power and power brings corruption. This is hardly a region deal type of thing. Corrution is all around. It hardly makes sense to single out the Asians. Every country takes part in that. Why let the corrution of a few make you dislike a whole nation?

Yikes! So Enron makes it okay for the Chinese to poison toothpaste, dog food, leave the gum strip out of exported tires and put lead paint on little kids toys? I don't recall Enron doing that.

I don't see the close linkage... but at least you've answered my question about your rational for defending the Chinese. I thank you for that. Just be very careful what you feed your pets.

Hey Dougster I used Enron as an example of Corruption, Corruption is corruption. I had no idea different levels of corruption made things ok. In the Enron case you might as well have killed people, thousands of good decent folks lost their life savings which left them with nothing. If I recall reading some stories some people even became homeless after losing all the life long savings. The example was trying to show that all countries are corrupt. If you feel so strong about it then I would imagine you should start boycotting American made goods, after all I am sure you agree the USA is just as guilty as others when it comes to government/corp. scamming. Once again money brings power, and sometimes people abuse power.

A dirty company or corp. has no borders or skin color. It happens to the best of them. In regards to this topic I have confidence that John Deere will maintain the high quality and make sure things roll smooth to match the great reputation John Deere has built up.

Most of the people who are against China in these postings really posting limited information why they hate china, allot of the information was misinformed. I think it's a very personal subject for die hard patriotic people so that could explain the lack of reasoning for people to blame China.

If you all feel so strong against China maybe you should all write to John Deere and tell them how you feel. After all why is it China's fault that John Deere has approached them to make some goodies? You want to blame China for accepting the work contract from John Deere? If you feel that strong against China then you surely must be SMOKING PISSED at John Deere for doing the so called unthinkable.

Regardless who is right or wrong, I think the main thing people forget is IT IS NOT A BAD THING to help out less fortunate people overseas by providing them with some work and a way to bring up the standard of living for those people.

I feel good in the fact by buying CHINA made we are doing a good thing to help out these less fortunate people. At this day and age I don’t let borders or color of people’s skin decide what I buy.

In closing I might be wrong but Kubota tractors are made overseas are they not? And clearly Kubota’s have a great proven track record. I fail to see why John Deere made overseas will affect the quality.

I guess I see where you're coming from. I don't agree with it, but you have made your point. We'll just have to respectfully "agree to disagree" on this justification (or non-justification) of corruption theme! No hard feelings.

Dougster I totally agree with you, I have no hard feelings towards the way you feel. I can understand some of the peoples concerns I just think we should be more worried about helping people than worrying about what stuff costs or where it's made.

Once again I completely agree with agree to disagree. I appreciate that level of respect on these forums from allot of the members.

Again Dougster no hard feelings all is good. The good thing was you joining the topic to make it more interesting. No hard feelings in any way.

Cheers.

And, another fine thing...we're (the Federales, I mean) this deep (hand up to neck) in debt to China.

We are a nation that can make a choice. We can make those choices all the way down the supply chain to where the consumer looks at it off the shelf.

Those choices, even at the last step of shelf life, have checks and balances in them.

Regarding manufactured durable goods - mported, where does the membership of TBN really think the problem lies? I can guess, so don't answer.

Regarding food products, both the distributers and the U.S. Government FAILED us and is failing us on safety inspections. Simple as that.

Who cares where it came from, some of it should never reach the shelf or showroom.

IMO MADE IN USA was developed by one of the marketing depts at the big three. . . (right around the time when USA quality was crap & imports were cheaper). I too look for the usa label . . . Looked at a Ford Ranger contents label only thing usa maded was the transmission. P.S. when was the last time an American manufacturer did something (they weren't forced to do) for the consumer? just my opinion BUYER BEWARE -ED

Maybe we should go back to the bartering thing. Stop using money to purchase anything. Trade something of value that you have (work or something else) for something that someone else has that you want. This way, you do business with people in your own area, and don't have to worry about anywhere else in the world. Also, we cut out all the middlemen who make money on the thing that you want but never put their hand on the thing that you want.

Wait a minute!!! Isn't that where we started? Wasn't that the way our forefathers did? Well, what's the answer? Guess it's up to us to figure it out. And that is where this forum, and others like them help us do just that. Somebody puts in their 2cents worth, and someone says, hey that sounds good, and they support it, then others. And before you know it, we have something new that is helping us to live our lives better, and helping others in other countries.

While in the service (AF), I got to travel the world and see how other people live, and work. And IMHO, the USA is the best place to live in the world. We have problems, just as everyone else does (and most of the time, ours are a lot bigger, guess it goes with the territory), but we work through them. Again, thanks to things like TBN that lets us talk about our problems and hopefully resolve them ALL THE TIME.

Thank tou TBN

I've got nothing against Deere for getting stuff from China, its a global market and thats what they need to do inorder to stay competitive.

What I do have a problem with is how they continue to market themselves as the "all-american" tractor company, which they clearly are not.
