Robert in NY: just a small correction. Massey and Harris were two Canadian implement manufacturers in the 1800's that amalgamated around the turn of the last century. Massey-Harris bought Ferguson in the early 50's to form Massey-Harris-Ferguson. The name was too cumbersome, so around the late 50's they changed to just Massey-Ferguson.

Your right, I should have said Ferguson but I am so use to calling them all Masseys now I don't catch myself. I do love my Massey Harris 81RC though, that is one fast little bugger

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying a tractor (or any other product) according to its' place of origin. We live in a free society and have the right to chose where we want our purchases to come from.

If I don't want to buy a Chinese tractor because the Chinese are sickening or killing our children & pets with lead paint, have the worst record of human rights violations in the world and have over $50 billion in pending lawsuits for patent infringements/violations against them, that's my American right to not buy from them. Just like an Iranian farmer who might hate American foreign policies in iraq or Iran might chose not to buy a Iowa-made John Deere farm tractor.

In fact, I'd actually say it's a GOOD thing that we who live in free societies can protest against other countries buy NOT buying from them.

Now that doesn't mean that Chinese tractors might not be any good. That's not my point.

All that being said, MF building tractors in India is just another day at the office in the world of tractor building.

They are like brand new MF 135's and MF 35's.

There are also tractors by IMT that look just like the old Masseys.

They got the name Immitation Massey Tractors

My Deere was made in Georgia. With a Japanese engine and Chinese cast iron bits on the loader. I'm pretty sure the air in the tires is domestic.

Oh, I get it now, my Kubota B7800 was made in Waco, Texas, because that it where it was built, (assembled) at my local dealer. I bought an American made tractor with a Japanese engine!!
