Scott, honestly, magnum rocks, couldn't ask for anything more. Recovery time less than 4 seconds. teeth seem to be doing well even after hitting several fences. did you go with carbide?

Dirty,

I Went with the NON carbide head...Really my only option due to GPM requirements to run any carbide head on my high flow..I max at only 26GPM..CAT 257B High Flow/1200 hrs now

This will give me a feel for it and if down the road I need or want a larger machine and head so be it..I also went with the smaller cutting width as to aid in keeping the head RPM up...53 inch cut/73 inch overall width weighing just under 2k lbs...Alloy Steel knives..

I searched and searched for ANYONE with my machine or similiar HP setup with a mulcher to no avail...Robbie is the only poster that runs a Timber Ax but much more powerful machine like yours..Everyone runs the bigger machine and the bigger head...I have gotten alot of information from you mulchers on this site you know who you are-THANK YOU..

So we will see what she does, I fiqure they wouldnt manufacture or put thier name on it if it didnt work...

Will keep you posted on its results possibly with some pics!

VERY EXCITED to get it this FRIDAY....Ive got 6 acres to practice on of my own here...Heck with all these florida fires so close -might be a good idea to knock through all my land's needed areas...So far the nearest fire has been 4 miles from me...

Regards, Scott

If anyone has or knows of a lead on some magnum single sided teeth please let me know. The guy from the link said he will machine the non tooth side for the knives, but could not do double sided. Said I would have to purchase new but was hoping there was someone with a set of worn outs laying around. Dig through your garage boys!

Oh talked to Bradco also and was told they were developing knives also to compete with Gyro. Said to have better cut, less drag and be more efficient, but will not be release till first of next year:(

Everyone is coming out with some variation of a knife for a "carbide tooled" head. Even loftness has a planier carbide tooth out now but advises against using in rocky conditions.

We demoed a RC-60 with a low flow gyro head and my FIL inadvertly destroyed the teeth in two hours. Pro- it was still cutting with bad teeth, Con- the destroyed ones need replacing @ 3 hours use. Mixed outcome on that. But in the hands of a skilled operator the gyro head can be very effective if they could only get right on there prices.

I'm not sure which teeth the G2 has there bringing out tomorrow. I would like to see the planiers but I'm looking for it the most cut possible.

As much as I hate to dig up old posts, here is some new info... I now have 135+ hrs on the "new" mulcher and yes the teeth are starting to show. I've decided to invest in a set of the teeth (knives) from the first page for my magnum. They can be resharpened 3 or more times before replacement. So it'll be like a new sharp set of teeth every 50 or so hrs instead of continually dulling the carbide hammers to 150 hrs. and the overall cost will be cut in half. at least thats how my figures have been working out.
Will be installing them on Wed so I will let yall know!
Also I heard rumor of a way to turn up the HHP from the current @78 to the max of 99 HHP by doing some mods to the pump. anyone have any experience? was told that the pressure at the head would be over 5K psi instead of the stock 3.8K psi
That is almost Supertrak 120 numbers!!!!

Thanks Scott! It is a long weekend with a LOT of time to think this over. Did I make correct choice? will I find enough work to repay my savings? hope it will all come together.
Kendall- total package $86500 from Mauldin Tractor Hattisburg, MS they are local ASV/ New Holland Dealer. Heard their service is less than desireable but price was not too bad. I prefer to keep money as local as possible and did not want to get into trouble with tax man. although I heard GA is tax exempt for Ag. This dealer said it would be const not Ag here though:(
Local Vermeer wanted almost 2K more and had Fecon head so I went for the Mag with the rexroth motor (it even says Bradco) w/double sided teeth. They may not last any longer but they will be already paid for!:)

Only kicker may be the insurance on the loan. Seems kinda high but dealer said it was "normal" Guess they gotta getcha somewhere...

QuickDraw- If you get into the mulcher dentistry business let us know! discounts for TBN?:D

Thanks for all yalls support. Cant wait!
Where are all the marketing secrects? gotta have something to keep my mind going!

DirtyWorks,

You paid $86,500 for the RC100 with Magnum head? With a Fecon head it would have been $2,000 more for total of $88,500???

This past Friday I got two quotes from different dealers for an ASV RC100 with the complete forestry package (including the Fecon head) and they came in at $73,000 something and $75,000 something.

So I'm curious as to why your dealer would have quoted you such a higher price??? I could see a difference of one or two thousand, but 13 to 15 thousand more I can't.

Gamma, 73-75 would have been a steal around here
73000 total
-27000 head
- 6000 protection pkg
= @ $40,000 for a full cab RC-100 with AC/Heat, hydraulic attachment attach, and bucket.
Sounds almost too good to be true, or maby I was robbed.
The only way I found one cheaper was in GA where i could possibly cheat Uncle Sam out of his share, but where would I get good service? Have the '08s hit the floor yet? was your quote for an '06? what part of the country? Yes 15K diff is VERY high and off track. Guess I'll just have to work a few extra hours a week for the next year recoup my loss.:(
Well at least the work is steady if I could get a dry day to catch up. Getting more behind with all this wet stuff from TX.

The local dealer here quoted 64k for RC100 w/ forestry, and 34k for gyro w/ extra set of teeth, hoses, and belt. Seems kind of high, haven't done any haggling though. Looks like all of the companies using carbides are figuring out that tractors in 100hp range perform better w/ sharp knives. A guy in my area using rc100 w/ gyro said he is getting around 200 hrs out of his teeth, this seems a little unrealistic listening to what yall have said, but he seems like an honest guy. Is anyone on here actually using a gyro. At 1/3 the price of most carbides, seems like you could afford to replace teeth on gyro a little more frequently, and be able to cut faster too.
