groundhawg said:The local dealer here quoted 64k for RC100 w/ forestry, and 34k for gyro w/ extra set of teeth, hoses, and belt. Seems kind of high, haven't done any haggling though. Looks like all of the companies using carbides are figuring out that tractors in 100hp range perform better w/ sharp knives. A guy in my area using rc100 w/ gyro said he is getting around 200 hrs out of his teeth, this seems a little unrealistic listening to what yall have said, but he seems like an honest guy. Is anyone on here actually using a gyro. At 1/3 the price of most carbides, seems like you could afford to replace teeth on gyro a little more frequently, and be able to cut faster too.
Groundhawg,
Doesn't the Gyrotrac HD500 cost almost twice as much as a Fecon Bull Hog BH74SS? I was just quoted $18,916 by a local dealer for a BH74SS.
I just don't see how I'd be better off spending an extra $15,000 for the Gyrotrac head just so I could purchase less expensive steel blades for it then I would purchasing carbide teeth for the Bull Hog head. Sure, a set of new blades for the Gyrotrac are less expensive then new teeth for the Bull Hog, but the steel blades don't last as long as the carbide teeth either.
