R1's and R4's are usually different size so the ratio will be wrong for 4WD.

There is a fair amount of wiggle room there to account for uneven wear, tire pressure differences, etc, but it shouldn't be too hard to get R4s in the correct overall diameter.

Mixed front and back can be done, my father in law had turfs on the rear and ag on the front when he bought a new tractor, but he had the dealer do it to match the gearing ratio, we ran it that way for several years then went with industrial on the front and turf on the back, last year I moved it to our flatland farm and we put industrial tires all the way around, it is a 1986 with never any problems, you just have to pick the right tires.

If you're thinking of getting R1 tires you can get R1W tires for the front that are wider and will handle heavy loads better but still offer the R1 traction. When my R1 tires need replacing that's what I'm planning on doing.

I was talking about factory spec R1's and R4's.

You can also get a R4 tire with a R1 tread.

On the Mahindra 4035, the rear AGs hold almost 400# of fluid each when filled to capacity.

Yes, similar, but I think that Kubota's HST+ does more than just raise the throttle level. Not sure, just my impression. I believe that JD and one or maybe even 2 of the Korean manufacturers have the throttle advance linked to the HST pedal-s. :confused3: And just like Kubota, it is only on or available on some of the tractors, not all of them.

As mentioned by MtnViewRanch some others may have some of the features, I just don't know.
