Buying Advice Mahindra 4035 HST vs. Kubota L4240 HST

And where are the comparisons?

My comparisons were done first hand on the lots of local dealers, something I advise anyone to do. Everything from the castings to the bolts appeared larger and heavier on the 4035HST. I guess I can go back and take pictures of what caught my eye with each, I drive by each of the dealers all the time. I looked at Kubota, NewHolland, Mahindra, and LS.

I wouldn't want a tractor that simply has more metal to have more metal. I would rather have one of adequate design from a manufacturer that has the expertise to design efficiently.. Heavy tractors rut wet soil and strain my bridges more than I care for.

I just hate seeing broken stuff when it can be avoided. With experience you do learn how much is needed for a given task. I'm just saying that with a loader capacity over 2500# on my tractor, I'd have more than 1000# on the back if using the loader to capacity, especially if the front tires are flexing the sidewalls a lot (I think of that flex as a visible indicator of when to add more ballast to the 3 point since it directly translates into the pressures the axle and steering are under).

Kioti specifies 1,047lbs on the 3pt for the DK40SE HST with the KL401 loader.

Agreed Tom, it's all about knowing what tasks you want and need to do, and doing the hands on research about what will fit those needs and wants best. Here the biggest issue is traction, not always due to wet soil, sometimes simply due to the inclines, although we have our fair share of springs and various wet areas that are something to overcome as well. Majority of the problem on my land has always been getting enough weight. This has been something every operator who has worked this land contended with. So purchasing weight was something that was being done, either built into the tractor, or added after the fact. When I looked at all the tractors I had narrowed my choices down to by availability and specs, I simply didn't feel comfortable adding the weight to a lighter tractor for full time drag on the mechanicals.

My machine weighed over 8600# with the loader and the backhoe on it the day it was delivered. That is a lot of stress on a bridge, and that's a lot of weight for wet soil. Neither of these do I need to contend with for my primary functions. The heaviest duty tasks I'll be using my machine for will be to break up soil on top of my mountains with the backhoe, loading on a dump, to be brought off the hill and used to fill and level a couple small areas. All other tasks will be lighter duty on the machine. Another need for the weight was to get to some of the places I need to be to set new fenceposts. There are places on my hills I'll need the weight for stability and traction. I didn't make the decision lightly

Anything specific about Mahindra makes you think they aren't expert enough to design efficient tractors?

Depending on the geometry of your tractor and the capacities and ratings and so on, that may be plenty to prevent overloading your front axle when working your loader at capacity.

Yes, normally a troll just starts trouble in otherwise productive threads but doesn't have anything useful to contribute which is obviously not the case with you. Get it right and quit being helpful in so many other threads!

By gosh that's the same DK40 seHST Kioti tractor with KL 401 loader I have.Hope I got it right this time being a newbie.
