Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

I did get the rears loaded. It was quieter than I thought it would be. I drove around a little but it's too wet to get it out where it matters. It's got power, that's for sure. I love the stance, the air ride seat, and the ergonomics of the controls.

It’s funny you mentioned how quiet it is. Because I noticed that too on mine. Quieter than my 1538 was and they both have the same engine (not counting the turbo on the 5155). So it must have something to do with the injection timing/fuel mapping. I’m also waiting for some warmer drier weather to get out and really see what it do. Definitely agree on the power, controls, stance, seat etc. glad you got it before the price increase and the threat of more supply chain issues.

I am very happy to have it and I can say it was worth the wait. Mostly just happy to have been able to get one in the Times we are in. I can see the prices creeping up on all tractors and just my guesstimation but at the rate things are going the equivalent machine in 6 to 8 years is going to be 60k. I have always gauged it on the price of a good heavy duty pick up. If the new trucks cost 80k the new utility tractor will be 40k or a little less. Nothing is getting cheaper or easier to get. Just my two cents,

Unfortunately I think you’re right. Well have fun with it and be safe. Hopefully it does everything you need and serves you well. My first project on mine is installing front loader mounted hydraulic connections so I can run my grapple etc. have a lot of cleanup work outside come spring and will definitely need the grapple for it.

I am about 60 hours into a new 1626 that I cannot say enough good things about. I traded my 9 year old 2015 in with the dealer towards the new 1626 and couldn't be happier.

Happy to see people appreciate Mahindra because I think they currently produce some of the best tractors out there. The newer design looks great and love the power and weight. It's a shuttle that suits my needs very well.

I've got 25 acres deep in the woods on a river in Maine and this will do anything I ask it to.

Nice feeling having a new tractor...

I am sad to report I have only had an hour and a half of run time on the new 5155. It has been far too wet to do anything on my high ground swamp. Looking forward to warmer drier days.

Hi Walt, the tractor is a big upgrade from my 1538. Nothing at all wrong with the 1538 but I found myself wanting more weight and more physical footprint mostly to deal with my hilly property and maintaining a very steep driveway. The 5155 is working great so far as I’ve recently spent about 6 hours of seat time clearing very heavy snow at my place. Very smooth operating tractor and the front loader is extremely powerful.
As far as the Saw of Death, I built that to cut back and maintain the branches hanging down over the driveway and along trails in my woods. It works really well for that since I can reach up high with the loader. I don’t remember the exact specs on the motor but I believe it’s making about 600 RPM at 8gpm hydraulic flow (which is about what the 1538 put out). It is a 30” blade and the tip speed is in the neighborhood of where they recommend you run circular saws. It uses the tractor hydraulics to run it. I did a post a while back here on the build so if you look for it you could see some more detailed pics and info.
Was a fun and inexpensive solution to a need. It works good.

Hey Andy, ran across this post, iam getting ready to pull the trigger on a 5145, just wondering how you 5155 is holding up, not much on the net about these tractors yet seeing there so new and all, trying to get as much info as I can, thanks in advance John stark NC

John, so far all is good. I only have 12 hours on it so far because we’ve still been in winter up here unfortunately. But about half the hours are clearing heavy snow and the other half was pushing up a large brush pile for burning this past weekend. Really nothing but positive things so far. Controls all work smoothly, they’re laid out well. The seat is very comfortable. The tractor is very stable and pushes really hard. The extra traction that comes from the increased weight compared to my 1538 makes a big difference. The loader joystick is smooth and the loader itself is very strong. I haven’t had anything connected to the PTO yet, or even hooked to the 3 Point yet to comment on that. Hope to use my box blade soon to regrade the driveway after winter is finally done so I’ll comment on how that goes. One thing I would suggest is to think about 45 horsepower on such a heavy tractor. I’m sure that’s plenty for working speeds. But I think it might be a little shy if you plan to road the tractor at all in high range. Just a thought to consider. They’re heavy built for sure. I got R4 tires and had the rears loaded with beet juice. Definitely recommend loading the rears with such a strong loader. Let us know when you take delivery!!

Andy, glad to hear nothing but good news on the machine....but 12 hrs..sheesh , I put that on my 4540 in the first couple of days, I was hoping to hear from someone who has put a significant amount of hours on there's, so I could get an idea as to what kinda issues they may have if any, I have heated of a guy who had an issue with a cable on the loader stick, another guy told me to be on the lookout for loose bolts on wheels and loader, anyways good luck this spring, looking forward to hearing how she does...be safe!
