Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

2023 Mahindra 5155 with right at 80 hours on it so far...

Tractor has been a work horse... I love the thing.

Noticed this yesterday... working on moving downed trees with my grapple. Coming to full stop, clutch all the way in, using the shuttle shifter from forward to reverse, it's having a hard time going back into forward... 2 out of 3 tries, it does not engage.

I've been very careful with this, because I know that the cable is a known problem area.

It goes into reverse with no issue, but forward seems to be a problem.

Any advice?

I don't want it to fail me completely.

You could probably adjust the turnbuckle at either end. I'd want to look and make sure the entire cable wasn't sliding when shifting to forward, before adjusting.

Tractor got here this morning, drove it around and everything seems to work. It is bigger than I thought it would be and barely fits in our barn cellar door. I got the back blade off the old tractor and son I put it on the 5155 this afternoon in the cold and wind. Yep, the Roll bar is a brute, but we struggled and got it in the parallel position. Has to be there to get in door for winter. PROBLEM I don't believe the remotes have even been used. Went to hook them up and one female won't accept the male fitting. One works just as it is supposed to but the other one you can't get the male into it far enough for the detent balls to engage. It is definitely that female fitting because both males will work in the other female. Is there a fix short of a new fitting?

I haven’t run into this with the 5000 series but have confronted what you’re describing with other models. Press in the bad one to relieve pressure and then see if it accepts the male.
If that doesn’t work,
It is one of two things.
1. There is a spec of debris in one of the female fittings.
2. And most likely, there is a brand of remote connectors that are hit or miss. Some fit nicely and others are a bear to put together..
If the Connector is pristine with no visible reason to be defective, just change it out and rid yourself of the headaches.

There are new males in the tool box and I am going to try one of them in the morning. I really like these safety disconnect fittings and have never had a problem...especially with a new tractor. We were in the 20 degree wind and not dressed for a problem!

It has been sitting outdoors in freezing weather, so I am going to put the heat gun on it, and get the tools around to take it off. After I get it warm I'll spray some penetrating oil into it. It is in a nasty place, it's the lower remote. I have an extra female fitting but it isn't quick disconnect.

Also get the tractor running and use the hydraulics to start heating up the oil especially the steering going lock to lock and holding steering there for a few seconds.
After you shut the tractor off and relieve pressure by putting the fell in float, On the difficult female, take a screwdriver and press in the engagement ring inside the fitting. This should drain out the immediate residual oil.
Then try putting everything back together.
If that fails, change out the fitting to one that is less ornery.

Brute force and awkwardness won again. I got a heat gun and got it good and hot and sprayed it with PB Blaster and my penetrating oil and put one of the new males on a piece of pipe and hit it with a hammer and it snapped right in. No idea what the problem was, just new I guess. It works now!

Now back to playing with my new tractor. Driving position is good and I like how the controls are laid out. Going to have to get used to the clutch. The depressing angle is different from my other two tractors and the clutch is lighter. No place for a mirror to watch equipment behind me. No level bucket indictor.

My level bucket indicator is in the photo circled in orange. For mirrors I got these and fitted them to the loader uprights. Photo before the mirrors were installed.

It's difficult to find a virgin these days.
You obviously found one.

Congratulations to your new tractor.
