Mahindra tractor over heating, Please Help

Thanks. It’s actually closer to being a tractor than you would think.
It’s got a large slow revving 4 cylinder with a heavy flywheel and a non-synchronized 3 speed with straight cut gears. 27hp, but close to 50 ftlbs of torque. 1st gear is actually a granny low gear, so it’s normally driven like a two speed.
The low gear was put in for farmers. Many people could only afford a car or a tractor, so lots of these cars were used to pull plows and such, then take the family to church on Sunday.
They also leak like a sieve. They say some of the oil leaks were put to use oiling the brake and clutch linkages under the car. I don’t know about that, but I know it’s impossible to keep it from leaking when all you have to work with is cork and felt gaskets.

Sort of an old thread, but here is what my experience has been with the 6110 I’ve had since 2012. The 6110 is a very heavy breather and will pull in dust very efficiently. I use my tractor for hay mowing with a disc mower and then it is also my round baler power source. The baler produces some of the most dust in all my work with it. Both screens will plug in an hour when baling dusty hay. Primarily, running temp with the air on after a pure radiator cleaning, is just under the half hash mark on the gage. It will climb quickly and I’ll need to stop and improvise cedar limbs as a dust brush to clean my radiator in the fields.

I try cutting my hay and baling it in favorable wind conditions so I have a cross wind over my windrows when baling. I thought of rigging up a small air compressor with tank and run lines to the screens with a blow off button in the cab to “de-dust” my screens when I see the temp rising too high. Also the AC radiator could be remounted elsewhere so it isn’t dumping heat directly into the main radiator and block its airflow. There just isn’t a good place to remount the AC radiator.

My present solution>>>
The biggest discovery was finding out how much air the intake pulls into the air cleaner. Having that huge suction locked up behind the side panels, it just pulls in everything in to the vicinity of the radiators. It might be possible to divert the intake to another place outside of the side panel chamber. You would have to filter it again somehow but I think it would help the dust vacuum problem the intake creates in the front compartment of the hood. Once I figured out the intake is the problem, removing the side panels while doing dusty operations that alone almost eliminated the cooling issue for me.

BeltfedGoodness I Thank you sir for all your help. On mine I found the bearing in the AC Compressor was bad and it was dragging the motor down to the point of causing my over heating problem. I Thank you and all the fine members here on this form. Sincerely Sammie

Funny this thread came back up....my 5570 will overheat when running my 7ft. brush hog, as I've been doing the last few days. The trash and weed seed heads clog the radiator. This is the only tractor I've ever owned or ran that has such a poorly protected radiator. The grill is strictly cosmetic and does nothing to keep the junk from clogging the radiator. Right now there are 5 other tractors sitting in front of my house since I hire my hay baling now. Three different manufacturers, and all of them have an external screen on the front of the tractor that the air is pulled through, which catches the majority of the debris. So does my 5570, but it has huge gaps all around it and around the headlights that allows junk to be pulled through into the radiator. I don't mind getting off and wiping the debris off a screen every hour or so. Much easier than driving back home, rising the hood, removing the side panels, lowering the grill guard, taking the front grill loose, unplugging the lights, and pulling the grill off. All that just to get the radiator to clean it off. Must not be any weeds or such in India.

I took some duct tape and sealed up as much of the front of the tractor that I could. It made a huge difference. Most of the debris was caught on the external grill, I could just wipe it off with my hand.

I have some other issues to worry about right now, but when I get time I plan to seal up as much as I can with weatherstripping around the grill and hood and sealing around the lights. Maybe fabricate some kind of a screen, I don't know.

Very poor design on Mahindra's part. Really about all I have found to gripe about on this tractor so far.

I agree I have a 4025 with the same issue, but I have an idea you could try.
Get some velcro with a sticky back and put it on the front of your radiator. Purchase some filter material and cut it to size then attach it to to velcro on the front of your radiator.
Then you can shake it off or replace as needed.
I haven't gotten to it on my tractor since I haven't used it for mowing in awhile.

MAC11B2003 Thank you for your reply and information. I really only cut grass and weeds. but I agree with you on the Very poor design on Mahindra's part. Maybe you can send me or post some pictures of what you have done or are going to do to improve the air flow? Thank you again. Sincerely Sammie
