Tractor
Kioti DS4510 HS, 2009
I'm looking at buying a 35 or 40 hp with a loader and cab. Mahindra have the 2638 with 37.4 hp and Kioti have a dk 4210 se which is 39.6 hp and looks better with more equipment. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows which one would be the best to buy? I do landscaping in the summer and snow removal in the winter.

“Looks better with more equipment” seems you have answered your own question!

For the tractor itself, to compare between the 2 tractors, 2638 mahindra or a kioti dk4210 se both with loader, which one would be better to do landscaping ?

Don't look at just the tractor. Look carefully at the dealer - can he provide support? WILL he provide support? How long has he been in business? What's his reputation? You run a business with your tractor - you need to deal with a vendor who runs his business like a business, too. Both brands have good reputations.

I also own a lawn care and landscaping business. Make sure your fel can pick up a pallet of sod, etc. I just bought a mf2604h. I知 planning to get more into bush hogging, driveway repair, etc during the winter. That痴 why I bought a little bigger tractor. Good luck on your purchase

Excellent advice! I was careful when I bought my tractor over 20 years ago, to pick a good dealer, with a good rep, that was in it for the long haul.

You're 100% right re: the dealer, didn't really think of that, thnx

Have you spent any time operating each of them? I like the ergonomics of the Kioti better than the Mahindra so that is what I got.

If you like the dealer more than the tractor you should move on.
I cant remember the last time I needed a specific dealer for something after it was out of warantee.
Dont know much about parts for a Mahindra. Kioti has a couple large online dealers and a major North American headquarters in Wendell, NC .
Both manufactures Mahindra and Kioti will be around for the long haul. In the end..... get the tractor you want.

Not big on worrying too much about the dealer. If the manufacturer can’t ship a part a good dealer would have thier hands tied anyway. With that said there is a balance point and if you don’t feel good at all about the dealer then you should move on. I personally would not let the dealer be the deciding factor on which machine I purchased.
One thing I would say is when it comes to manufacturing I personally would in most cases go with the actual manufacturer if at all possible.
For instance why buy a Mahindra built by TYM when I could skip the middle man and buy a TYM. Mahindra does not build all thier own tractors and Kioti does. To me that says something about quality controll processes and my experience some years back when I shopped the brand I noticed a lot of little things on brand new Mahindra tractors that didn’t give me much confidence in the brand at the time.
Since then Everyone I personally know and have met that has a Kioti has been very pleased and at the same time I have been told a few horror stories about some of the Mahindra s but can not honestly state which manufacture they were from such as Mitsubishi, TYM or an actual Mahindra build.

I own a 2011 Mahindra 3616 shuttle open station and was in the market for a higher hp cab tractor. I looked at Mahindra, Kubota, JD, MF and Kioti. Kioti NX series ergonomics are way better than the comparable Mahindras and the options (rear remotes, 3rd function) are much cheaper than Mahindra. I still have my 3616 and have no real complaints about it. I just did not consider Kioti in 2011, this time that's what I bought. I cannot comment on longevity as I only have 25 hours on my NX.

Very interesting when your saying, kioti built their own tractor, it makes a lot of sense, thnx for the info

Would it be OK to suggest looking at an LS Tractor?

Would it be OK to suggest looking at an LS Tractor?

We had a LS dealer in town for about 2 years and 3 months ago he let that company go, he just wasn't selling, 4 in 2 years, I guess people were afraid ??

That’s a shame as it appears LS builds a good tractor. It is well known that LS builds many of the New Holland brand tractors. Around here it seems that if your looking at buying a NH you could get basically the same tractor with LS badges for a good bit less money.

I liked the LS tractors we looked at but just wasn’t comfortable sitting in them. It seemed the hst pedals were in a position that put my knees and hips into a constant pain. If at the time I had purchased a gear the final decision may have been different.
I know many things have changed since I last shopped so it might be wise to look at all brands before making a decision.

Well said I live with and use the tractor and not the dealer. Its all about getting parts after that any competent mechanic including myself can fix it. I looked at mahindra this spring, nice tractors Ill say that up front. Price of the tractor was very close to big name brands, and wasnt going to pay the same for an off brand as a big brand. Which led me to TYM as they make mahindras anyway, only problem around here is the sole dealer for TYM was a guy out of his garage and parts were somewhat harder to get. Also not a buyer of the mahindra no DPF marketing they promote.

I wonder what the parts situation is with the rural king line of tractors. They are also made by TYM. Maybe a viable source for parts or might even be worth a trip out of NY. My experience pricing tractors in New York is I could travel to PA and buy one for a bad price and still save money compared to the best price I got from any dealer in NY.

Not picking on NY but every brand that I priced up there was way higher!

For what it's worth, my Kioti dealer said that Kioti will be opening a large warehouse somewhere in Ontario in the near future. It will make getting parts easier for the dealer. Having said that, getting parts has not been an option so far. I live in the Edmonton AB area. Having purchased my tractor one year ago, I did consider the Mahindra, but felt the fit and finish on the Kioti much better. 250 hours later and no complaints. Good luck on the hunt.
