I am usually quiet and almost never confrontational here but i'm thinking that member jasperab is either a complete idiot or he is not telling us the whole truth in his endless tale of woe or both. .

He sounds fairly rational and cogent to me. Maybe you DO have a dog in the fight? Or maybe you just don't like to hear that a company can be that petty? Don't know, frankly don't care. He has a problem that is unresolved and being aired in public and STILL the company (Mahindra) is failing to resolve it. NOTE: I didn't say "fix it", I said "resolve" it. It is an act of a gutless wonder to leave someone hanging. Either fix it or tell him to pound sand, but letting it twist in the wind is totally chicken droppings.

Sounds like YOU have a dog in the fight big john. I personally don't give a rat's behind one way or the other. but i'm sorry. this man is a classic crybaby and a chronic do-nothing-to help-himself complainer. he deserves the treatment he is getting. someone with some guts had to say it.

"Big" john? Thanks! -- I guess.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Why jump on the guy when he's down? He has a major problem that would discourage anyone. Whether he acted as promptly as he should have doesn't change much now. He has explained the time line of events and the rational behind his actions. I'll take him at his word, no cost to me. What is the point in bashing?
Mahindra should be able to make a decision, one way or the other. What could they possibly lose by helping out with parts only, or more? Advertising is extremely expensive. The parts cost here is just a drop in the bucket. If Mahindra had stepped up earlier, they could have had a very happy customer who would share his positive experience. Whether anyone agrees with him or not, there is no doubt this episode is not beneficial to Mahindra at this point.

Yo, BIG JOHN! I'm with you! The OP may not be citizen of the year in the eyes of our PERFECT JUDGES who rightly divine all that is good and holy and explain the hard part to us mere mortals but...

He laid out his case pretty well it seems to me. Read through the emotion and examine the simple facts.

Tractor engine blew up same month the warranty expired with really low hours on it.

Mahindra is not being properly responsive.

All the rest of she said he said oh my I don't like a whiner BS not withstanding, The engine blew way too prematurely, presumably at no fault to the owner and warranty service is NOT taking care of it.

Perhaps the OP didn't do or say what someone else claims they would have done or said but... Still the engine blew way too prematurely and Mahindra has not resolved the issue.

I agree with the prev poster who said they should tell him to pack sand or fix the darned thing but there delay is NOT GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS.

I will NEVER recommend a M to anyone, even someone I don't like a lot.

Pat, this is the last time I'll mention it but did you read the part where he waited a YEAR after the failure to attempt to bring this to the dealers attention?

As someone who deals with Mahindra headquarters on a daily basis I can say something is not right, someone isn't being truthful...the dealer or the customer. I've dealt with issues that were out of warranty but I didn't wait and wait to hear back from Mahindra, I called them on a daily basis and my issue was taken care of quickly. As a dealer you have to make sure that you do everything in your power to take care of customers as quickly as possible.

It still is hard for me to grasp why someone couldn't spend $75 to hire a towtruck and instead lets a $15K machine sit broken down for a year then somehow he is not to blame. Sorry, it just blows my mind.

The tractor motor failure does not appear to be the OP's fault. According to the OP, it did happen within the warranty period. The OP failed to bring the problem to his dealer's attention in a timely manner. Seems the easiest solution is for Mahindra to pay for the parts and the OP to pay labor.

Exactly, I'm not trying to make any excuses for the failure. However, waiting a year after the warranty is up is extremely irresponsible of the owner which he does not seem to understand.

Not as I read it. see below. We also know how much rain parts of the country received, maybe it wouldn't have been so easy to retreive it.

Started knocking when I was blading the road down to the house last October, so I left the tractor in the field until I knew what the problem was.A friend told me he thought the problem would be injectors but this spring was so wet, I didn't try to bring it in until may, and thats when the rod went through the block.
My dealer tried to get Mahindra to do something, but the warrenty expired in October, 2007 (the month it started knocking) and I didn't go in until may when it threw the rod.

I will be 60 this month, and have been out of work for a year and a half.

Many of us may have acted differently, but what do we know of the financial situation @ the time?
BTW, $75 wouldn't get a ramp truck to move it around here.

Exactly, started knocking in Oct.....didn't contact dealer, instead let it sit til May. (7 months) If you know the warranty expired in Oct. why would you not contact the dealer asap if you thought something may not be right?

Also look at the first post of this thread....

"Threw a rod with 186 hours, the same month that the warranty expired."

I thought it threw the rod in May? The story is continuously changing, which makes the whole situation even more questionable.
