Went by dealers today for followup.
The rod cap was lying in the oil pan!
One bolt is sheared off clean, the other is bent, then sheared.
Both shoulders of the rod are broken off.
He is waiting for the Mahindra rep to come by to look at it.

I hope this issue resolves well for you. I have a new Mahindra and have been very pleased with it. Shifting gears keeps me very occupied and most of my biggest mistakes were just bad gear choices so far. But for what I paid, I am very pleased with what I got. I am not sure how to take the tone of some of those who posted doubts about your situation. But you stayed positive in your replies and I commend you for staying out of the flames. I look forward to hearing how they resolve this. Please keep us posted.

They will fix that for you. You had a rod bolt break. Assuming you didnt overrev the engine to about 4krpm [a very difficult thing to do] there is no way you could have caused this. Mahindra will take responsibility as they should. Where they are extremely poor in my long term experience is in follow up and follow thru on details of a new sale that is not quite right.
I have an '06 7520. From the beginning there were some problems -- missing pins on the drawbar assembly, missing hyd system plumbing that was removed when fitting the loader, loose studs on the joystick pivots that I found and tightened but that broke soon after, a relay for the intake pre heater that stuck "ON" intermittently, totally deadening the battery, no loader subframe [safe in the shortrun since the BH subframe handles the need], leaks in the suction line for the hyd pump that Mahindra never stepped up to fix and I finally did.
I received the tractor on 3/31/06 and began trying to run down this list in April '06. In the process I spoke to the dealer and spoke or corresponded with Dan Smith, Rajan Chugh, Denver Farrell, Stephen Gilland, James Ramsdall, Brenda Bradshaw, Brian Bartlett, Matt Howell at Mahindra. Dan and Brenda have been helpful, both with info and referrals, but in the final analysis nothing has happened on these things except what I have done myself. On June 14, '08 the dealer got authorization to settle this out. He called on that Sat and told me! Now, 2 months later he still hasnt been able to get anything from Mahindra. He is at his wits end. Me too.

As of today, Mahindra rep has not told dealer what they will do.
#3 rod was about to go, and there was antifreeze in the oil. Cylinder head, gasket ? I don't know. Just waiting.

jasperab, What a really miserable situation. Hopefully the dealer and Mahindra will not try to weasel out or stick you will much cost. It seems from your various posts that you were just super unlucky and Mahindra should step up and "do the right thing." The good PR for taking care of you vs the bad PR for not supporting you has got to be worth more than the cost to them.

My Kubota's fuel tank started leaking at the seam well out of warranty. Kubota gave me a free tank. My dealer charged about $500 to install it. It seems the way my model is built they start with a fuel tank and build a tractor around it. They had to remove the cab and essentially disassemble the tractor quite a bit to be able to change the tank. I was not thrilled to pay $500 but at least Kubota gave me a tank when they could have just said, "sorry, out of warranty."

Best of luck to you with your Mahindra.

Pat

Tractor is still sitting at the dealers with the engine apart.
Mahindra still hasn't gotten back with them on what to do.
If they don't do something soon I guess I'll tow it home and park it out by 50 Hwy with a 4x8 sign on it and 12,000-18,000 cars a day will see my opinion of Mahindra!
Mahindra customer service sure is living up to their reputation.

WHAT'S IN YOUR BARN?
