Thanks for the update, I've been following this thread for awhile. So far this thread has had more than 10,000 views! That's a lot of eyeballs.

I have to say that the response from Mahindra has been pathetic. In fact I'd say it was completely unprofessional. In addition, you've apparently got a dealer that does not care. If you had a good dealer he would have taken care of the problem or pushed Mahindra to get it resolved by now.

I'll not buy a Mahindra nor will I recommend one. Thanks again for the heads up.

Tractor is still sitting at the dealers with the engine apart.
Mahindra still hasn't gotten back with them on what to do.
If they don't do something soon I guess I'll tow it home and park it out by 50 Hwy with a 4x8 sign on it and 12,000-18,000 cars a day will see my opinion of Mahindra!
Mahindra customer service sure is living up to their reputation.

WHAT'S IN YOUR BARN?

Don't know how many of those motorists are tractor owners or prospective tractor buyers. But by starting your two threads on the 4500 problem here on TBN, you're reaching a target audience of actual tractor buyers/owners and this should give Mahindra's management pause to consider the value of good public relations. Wonder if your dealer or the individuals you're dealing with at Mahindra customer service are aware of the reach of TBN.

BTW: I'm watching this thread with great interest since last March I bought a new Mahindra 5525. Hope we aren't seeing a quality control problem here on the 4500, especially in view of Mahindra's ads on TBN touting their recent quality awards.

Quality awards? Bah humbug! A quality award and 5 bucks can get you a latte at moonbucks.

Between the 2 companies, K is showing much better than M. What good is a tractor that is in a million pieces?

Ya know, I'm not real sure if we have the entire story on this 4500, and if you look in all of the other brands forums, you can find people that have big time problems with those brands and would not own again or recommend them to there worst enemies. Yes Kubota, John Deere, and New Holland have nice tractors, but even they build a lemon every once in awhile. There can be many factors that will attribute to some one's dissatisfaction with a machine. I doubt very much that the problem with the 4500 and how it has been handled is 100% Mahindra's fault. There is usually more than one side to a story and I think that we have only heard from the owner, yes? Oh well, maybe we will hear the end of this story before the end of the year, we can all hope so.

Back when this thread first started, I was just about ready to pull the trigger on a Mahindra. The Mahindra dealer is the only local tractor dealer so the only thing I needed to decide on was which model, the 2615 or the 2415 HST.

One day I had to go out of town on business. While on that trip, I stopped by a Kubota dealership. There I was introduced to the B 2x20 series. Though more expensive than the Mahindra, and a dealership that was over 2 hours away, I purchased a B2620.

The time jasperab's tractor has been in pieces at the dealership awaiting an answer from Mahindra is appalling! Whether or not Mahindra pays for the repairs is not the issue with me, it's the amount of time they are taking to make the decision. As a result, I would like to thank Mahindra's "customer service" for helping me decide where to spend my money.

I also think there's got to be more to this. Maybe the dealer shares some blame for the delay? It would seem that Mahindra would be able to determine one way or the other, quicker than we're seeing here.

A little tongue in cheek here, but why would Mahindra have to act on something in less time than what the owner did by leaving it out in a field for however long he did (after all, it was supposedly under warranty when it happened, but, oh yeah, he didn't even call the dealer until after the warranty had run out).... I think the owner SHOULD tow it home and put a sign on it...saying just how smart he is...ie., I don't believe we've heard the whole truth, and nothing but the truth here...BobG in VA

I've got to tell you that I have no dog in this fight and couldn't care a hoot about the mahindra brand. I am usually quiet and almost never confrontational here but i'm thinking that member jasperab is either a complete idiot or he is not telling us the whole truth in his endless tale of woe or both. I have been following this thread and mr jasperab's reported problems (copied and reposted in various threads) for what seems like forever and nothing ever seems to get any better for him. just endless complaining. mr jasperab seems to wear his victimhood like a badge and some people here seem to be falling for it.

something is not ringing true here and obviously we don't know what it is. i get the feeling that mr jasperab has given up on his mahindra or, even more likely, that mahindra has given up on poor mr jasperab and is writing him off as a chronic complainer and crank. sorry, but i have too. sell your broken mahindra mr jasperab and go buy something else. we are growing awfully tired of your endless tale of woe and brand bashing. let someone else deal with your problem. someone who can handle it.

Bob, I'd have to agree. It's funny how a person can neglect their end of a deal and then come on the web and bash brands when this could have been resolved long ago with no questions when the tractor was actually under warranty yet somehow, someway the customer is not responsible for at the very least contacting the dealer? How can a dealer address a warranty issue when the customer will not bring the tractor to them? Yet the customer let the unit sit out in his field for a year and then has the arrogance to ask "What's in your BARN"...... oh the irony.....

As a dealer, we always go to bat for the customer if needed. But the longer a customer waits the harder it is to help them out. This has turned into a Kubota vs. Mahindra thread....why? I have no clue. It should be a "Why didn't the owner take it to his dealer why it was under warranty?" thread.

I'm gonna hush now, I think 90% of the people posting in this thread either haven't read the whole thing or are just looking for a reason to bash other brands.

"The Mahindra is dead! Threw a rod with 186 hours, the same month that the warranty expired."
Warranty expired the month that I knew I had a problem!
No money-to take it in or fix it.
I'm 60 years old, try to find another executive sales position at that age. They want kids!
My dealer has been in business in a small town for about 40-50 years, they are trying, Mahindra is not responding.
I contacted the dealer, they contacted Mahindra, Mahindra did not reply to them until they either saw this post, were contacted by other dealers, or a combination thereof.
Mahindra told the dealer to pick up the tractor and assess the problem, they did, they reported to Mahindra, Mahindra has not replied.
A Mahindra dealer who asked to remain annonymous PM'd me to tell me that this is not the first problem Mahindra has had with rod caps, and that they fixed the others. This gave me hope that Mahindra would take care of the problem, they have not done so, so far.
I owned a retail business for more than 20 years in a small town (then, not now) and I NEVER left a customer hanging, I took care of problems to make sure that my customers would be satisfied and come back to me and refer friends and family. That has always been the American way, looks like that isn't so with foreign firms that have taken over American businesses.
