Maintenance Filters

The biggest complaint is that the TSC fluids cause a much louder whine in the HST. No failures, just poorer all-around performance.
Most go back to UDT/SUDT.....
Now if an extra loud HST whineing away whilst you work doesn't bother you, the TSC equivalent HST fluids should work fine. Carry on
Dave

It's hard to generalize. The whine might just be a case of that particular oil in that particular tractor. On our M59 we changed to SUDT at 244 hrs - and the HST immediately got so noisy that we changed back to regular HST fluid at 302 hrs. It was an expensive experiment. The increased whine and rattle from the HST with the SUDT was taking too much of the enjoyment away from our tractor time. After changing back, the noise level is noticeably reduced. Everything works better. The HST pump rattles less when the tractor is cold, and the normal HST whine is noticeably reduced as well. Even the hydraulic cylinders slide more smoothly. It's not a matter of it being "maybe less noise"; the noise is now a tiny fraction of what it was with the SUDT.

Time will tell us more, and of course someone else's experience may be entirely different.

BTW, our whole SUDT experiment makes me wonder to what extent that Kubota is involved in the manufacture and/or testing of SUDT? Our SUDT had to be special ordered and came in sealed black&orange Kubota 5 gallon containers. But the pasted-on labels on the containers indicate it was made and packaged by someone else.

It's not a secret that Kubota contracted Ashland (Valvoline) Oil Company to make their fluids. Whether Kubota now uses Chevron or someone else, I don't know. They also used a different oil company in Canada. I'm sure Kubota specs it out to their satisfaction though. Of that there is little doubt. The safety spec sheet always lists the true manufacturer.

Kubota like the other OEMs don't own or operate oil companies.

You make good points. Yes, I agree that Kubota builds tractors rather than refines oils. And I's agree with you that Kubota specs it out both their UDT and their SUDT to their satisfaction. It's figuring out what their satisfaction is based on that is my question.

In the manufacturing world we are always trying to close the gap between product specification versus what is actually manufactured and then sold to the customer. Getting information from the user in the field back up to the product designer is a particularly difficult thing to accomplish today.

Kubota is one of the few manufacturer that makes everything on the tractor from loader to engine and transmission, who else has more knowledge about the requirements of their product. The Super UDT that they use has had SAE papers published about the requirements that the fluid had to meet. They may not make the air and oil filters but I am sure that who they have making them will meet their requirements. If you want a real good case of why I do not like crosses, go look up what WIX specs for the BX fuel filters. Instead of a water blocking paper element they just have a screen in a plastic housing!!!

wrong...why did my air filter have a fleetguard PN on it? I have read the SUDT paper and nothing special. Just requirements and how to test. Just becuase they have a published SAE paper does not buy much. Also this SAE paper is outdated since they do not make the SUDT anymore.

Regaurds to there fuel filter. You must have selected the wrong fuel filter. Mine are the same as Kubota (for my BX24). I can even buy them from mowmore.

I keep hearing about the is SAE paper, and would like to read it. Does someone have a copy of that paper? Or can point me to where to find it? I've got an old sales and marketing powerpoint from Kubota on SUDT, but the emphasis is not technical.
thanks, rScotty

Fleetguard is the OEM for most equipment filters. They are a very good quality filter, much better than a standard Napa, Wix, etc. You would think you could buy from fleetguard direct cheaper than though the tractor OEM, but that is not always the case. The Kubota stuff is actually cheaper thouhg Kubota than it is from Fleetguard (we sell them).

I buy airfilters from a non Kubota dealer and it cheaper...Same filter too..

I buy many parts from you but your air filter (BX24) is $18 and a wix is $12...Same quality since UOA shows it works just the same in ppm. Per my UOA, not worth the price. I will be doing a fuel analysis on fuel filters next.

Wrong again as usual on the fuel filter, go use the Wix filter finder then look at the picture, it shows a screened filter. If they can't get the right picture or filter ,how can I expect them to get me the correct filter with proper media size, flow and relief setting for the oil and hydraulics.

Here is what they are specing for the BX2230........fail 50 micron rating!!!
