Maintenance Part Availability for GC

I don't think most people are out to buy the cheapest stuff they can find. It just appears that way to some.

There seems to be 2 groups:

Those get gratification by buying top quality. Either only OEM, or the most expensive maintenance products they can find, irregardless of whether it matters or not.

And, those those who get gratification from beating the system, They believe there are times when people are being taken advantage of, and they are shrewd enough to avoid it, by buying an equivalent product for less money.

Both sides often think the other side is completely nuts. :confused3:

Often times, both sides out smart themselves.
I'm only 'half nuts' (I think)
I'm 'in the know' about filter quality. So i'm not opposed to paying a lot for a filter.
But, on the other hand, I just went the cheap route. The filter was plugged on my log splitter, and I needed one ASAP...........Cost me a whopping 8 bucks at Napa for a "comparable" filter. The filter I had on it was a 'Luber-Finer' costs 26 bucks.
The Napa filter is only temporary!

I am really baffled at people who go out and buy a $20,000 machine and are afraid to pay 20-30 bucks for a filter for it-They want to buy the cheapest oil and the cheapest filters-I don't get it?

I agree

$20K+ for your INCREDIBLE ( I own a GC2310 ) new tractor... $20.00 tranny, $18.00 engine filter every 150 to 250hrs. Not a big deal IMHO. If you want to buy different oil than Massey... fine, then buy Shell or AMSoil..... BUT, do you really want to cheap out when you just spent that much coin on your SubCompact ??? They are not cheap ! Partially because it is niche market. There is so much "cheap/inexpensive" goods out there now adays, they are cheap for a reason.... throw away goods.... sad to say, but it is the way it is nowadays.... :(

The reason that does not make sense, is that is not what they are doing. That is what your perception of what their doing is.

Again, to them, they are just looking to not get ripped off, and pay up to 5 times as much, for the same thing. Which is what they perceive you to be doing. They think that is stupid.

No, your not going to shame them into thinking like you, it doesn't work that way.

This all makes perfect sense if you people try to follow me in this.

NAPA Filters : Oil Filters

i think 56 years is a little more than 'temporary'.

and no, i'm not trying to sell napa filters... if anything i'm kind of partial to fram, but that's not the point. most aftermarket filters are perfectly good quality.

don't be surprised if agco has contracted the manufacture of ALL their filters to one of these larger aftermarket companies.

maybe the need to have this debate after so many years is what is nuts.

Since I started this mess perhaps I should clarify my intention. I wanted to know how hard it would be to find parts if my dealer went away. Are there other MF dealers who will ship parts? And , what if any parts can be sourced from other places, NAPA, AMSOIL, TSC?
BTW, I know better than to cheap out on parts. Also, I think every well run business deserves to make a buck for providing good service,

Sorry, just so you know, threads that go way off topic are not uncommon.

You will always be able to find parts somewhere. I am in Alberta, Canada and would be happy to send parts to you. E-mail me if you need any help with anything.
