I really have am baffled at people who go out and buy a $20,000 machine and are afraid to pay 20-30 bucks for a filter for it-They want to buy the cheapest oil and the cheapest filters-I don't get it?

I agree with you cdaigle430. They buy the cheapest oil and filters they can find and then cry becuz the tractor isnt working wright and they are having trouble with it.

Ok look at it like this. Would you like to invent a product and a week later have Joe Dirt down the road invent the same thing only to use cheaper parts and sell it at half the price you are and then your out of buisness two weeks later cuz everyone is buying his even tho it wont last as long as your.

better yet, what if i built something using an already existing design and then gave it an obscure part number and charged 3-5 times as much as what quality versions of that same part were selling for at the corner auto parts store.

don't the auto parts guys down the street deserve a little loyalty too?

imagine a corporate executive who came up with a program where a corporation such as massey ferguson effectively subsidized their customers by providing competitive pricing on quality consumables, rather than gouging them at every opportunity.

is there no advantage in bringing already existing primary item customers back in the door with a carrot as opposed to a stick?

seems to me the old saying that 'you know what' runs downhill, is being spun around to where the customer is supposed to accept the fact that they will always pay extra so that some freeloader can get a whopping dividend.

why should the concept of destructive welfare be excluded from the shareholders' meeting?

i think maybe it's taking longer for some people, rather than others, to recognize that the perception of entitlement has infested the stock markets of the world.

maybe it's time for shareholders to start giving a little themselves?

btw, i paid cash for my machine... did you?

the concept of becoming a debtslave just so somebody i don't even know can get rich is foreign to my being. i don't ask for welfare, so why should i feel obliged to pony up when somebody in a mansion demands welfare from me?

I don't think most people are out to buy the cheapest stuff they can find. It just appears that way to some.

There seems to be 2 groups:

Those get gratification by buying top quality. Either only OEM, or the most expensive maintenance products they can find, irregardless of whether it matters or not.

And, those those who get gratification from beating the system, They believe there are times when people are being taken advantage of, and they are shrewd enough to avoid it, by buying an equivalent product for less money.

Both sides often think the other side is completely nuts. :confused3:

Often times, both sides out smart themselves.

Shure the auto parts dealer needs alittle to. I dont expect you to go to your tractor dealer to get car parts either. Doesnt your tractor dealer need the same respect your givin the auto parts dealer. And i dont believe the auto parts dealer is going to answer any question that come up when your tractor breaks down or tell you how you can fix it either. If your not helping your local tractor dealer by buy parts from him how long do you expect him to stay around and then do you expect him to offer free advice to someone not buying his products.

That is true to a point. Ive seen customers come in and buy the cheapest hydo oil i have to put in a new tractor. I have told them that that oil is not as good as the MF oil i sell and their words are (oil is oil no matter what color the bucket is. Its all the same.) a few days later they are calling wondering why their tractor isnt working wright and i tell them its cuz of the oil. Now they come in buy a new filter and new oil thats made for that tractor and now their time to change it all out again and then they are back in buisness. And it doesnt matter which brand tractor you go with they all have special products for there tractors. Its not like the older ones that will run and operate on anything you put in them.

Do you not see that guy is: "The one who gets gratification from beating the system, They believe there are times when people are being taken advantage of, and they are shrewd enough to avoid it, by buying an equivalent product for less money".

Your warning went unheeded, because he thinks you are trying to out smart him by selling him a more expensive product than he needs. Why else would he ignore your waring? If he believed it wound not work, he certainly would not buy it.

And as I said, and your story showed, sometimes they out smart themselves.

I am also sure many times things work out like they planned. Giving them the incentive to keep thinking this way.
