Hello,

Have an L2550 (1984) tractor loader with rear gannon (29 hp). Can anyone suggest the most economical way to purchase necessary manuals and or parts lists for this. It is the first tractor I have owned and I want to do things right with it.

The joints for the front bucket have quite a bit of play in them. I do not want to use the tractor until I know what to do to rectify it before making it any worse.

The hydrauling fluid filter shows a date of 2005 and the tractor hours painted on it. I assume this was when it was last serviced and the current hours are 350 higher than those on the filter.

Engine fluid looks clean and filter is like new.

Sure would appreciate any sage advice since I am a complete rookie with tractors.

Best,

about your "new to you" beast of burdden

1. as the pins and bushings are this bad.

a. Have the loader removed and the mounting frame also for it; as:
1. you will need new pins
2. you will need new bushings
3. you may need to have the units pin mounts line bored if it is bad
enough.
4. The anchor pins holding the arms to the frame will have slop that is
unseen as it will not readily show wear from use due to the
unexposed bearing surface between the the ears of the mounts for
boom arms.

a. you may just need bronze bushings and new pins.

b. Ask your local dealer where you can obtain oil sample test kits
so you can have the hydraulic oil and motor oil tested for any
contaminents like water/heavy metals indicating bearing failure
or PM me.

c. Ask Neil Messick if operators and repair manuals are available for this
tractor and also if the tractor model has any service bulletins since it
was introduced.

d. a good site for kubota tractors is OrangeTractorTalks | Kubota Tractor Tips, Classifieds, Specifications and Discussion
for a wealth of goodies.

Another is www.mytractorforum.com for lots of good information.
theier are several sites that offer manuals for sale for many tractors and
you should have no issues finding them if neil cannot obtain them for you.

Now I know what a Gannon box blade is

Thank you Leonz.

I did not know how to find replys to my original post so I panicked and wrote up a new post.

I'll will get to work right away with your excellent advice.

Great having a new friend! Will keep you posted on the results. PS There is a nail in one of the tires. I tried to pull it out and water shot everywhere. Learned a good lesson there. If I roll the tire to get the nail above water line, are glue type plugs the way to go for this situation?? I just have the type from the local auto store that you thread through the slot in the injector tool.

Best Regards,

Bud

you have loaded tires, the questiion is if they are loaded with calcium, but you should have no issues plugging it-

Buuut I would inquire of a tire dealer and check to see if you need larger tire plugs and it may be simpler to have them do it as they have all the required tools and lift jacks- they will most likely empty the tire and plug it and then pump the calcium back in, FYI it would be worth it to find out if there is a tube in your new to you beast of burden.

Thanks Leonz.
I am assuming that the clear water which squirted out was just that and not calcium. Actually I have no idea what form calcium would look like in a tire.

The bucket assembly was manufactired by SMC Corp., Schwartz Div. This company is now owned by Alamo...
I called a local outfit to see about getting pins and bushings. Their first comment was my model may not have had any bushings to begin with...

I was a bit taken back by this comment but politely asked if they had a parts list for it. Still waiting for them to get back to me with the info.

I then asked about test kits for fluids and he said don't have such things-just drain it and drive it...

I am however, determined to follow through with your sage suggestions.
