What type of maintenance can I do at my place, and what type of maintenance does the dealer have to do. Please include the hour intervals.

We're about ready to get an L3400.

Also, will a Kubota dealer who we don't buy the tractor from service our Kubota? I was just wondering. There's a nearby dealer, but they don't have the 3400 4wd. It would take some time to get it from another dealer and install the FEL and cutter. There's a dealer that's much farther away, but they have a 3400 with FEL already installed. Basically, the closer dealer would take more time in getting us the tractor than the one farther away.

You can do all the maintenance yourself. The dealer will do the warranty work. I would ask your local dealer if he will do the warranty work cause if he won't it may be a long drive to take your tractor in. I would wait on the local dealer to get what you want if you like the way he treated you when dealing with him. He's not gonna want to do the warranty work but he probably will be glad to do the maintenance cause thats a real profit item.

You should be able to do all the maintenance work yourself. Mostly it is a matter of chaging oil, trans fluid, filters, and greasing fittings.

The Operator's Manual will have a chart showing what should be done and when. The list looks pretty long but it is mostly common sense stuff like checking belts, battery water lever, etc.

I certainly will do all of my own...right here at home. NOthing really complicated as you have said..and items are easy to get to ( on the B3030 at least).

That's kind of a "tall order", even for such a helpful bunch as you will find here. It's quite a long list - here's the link to the "generic" maintenance schedule from Kubota's website. (Ron's link is to Messick's website - the schedules might be identical, not sure).

Thanks for all your help. I didn't mean to be rude when I asked about the hour intervals. I wasn't thinking.

I've made a decision that I'll just buy the tractor from the far away dealer, and if something breaks down (not under warranty), I can just take it to the dealer near my place.

The dealer near me tried to pull a fast one the other day. They tried to sell me an L3400 with 45 hours on it as new.

The dealer farther away from me picks up and delivers up to 100 miles.

Again, many thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not to worry. Just got back from my dealer. Looked at a L3400HST with a fertilizer spreader on it. Nice tractor. Honestly, /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I was looking at the hopper. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Registering here was the right thing to do. If you keep tabs on this board, you will have LOTS of necessary info by the time your 50hr rolls around. You haven't even bought it yet and look at all the responses in one day!

Congratulations /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I would invest in the Work Shop Manual also at time of purchase. You might get a break on the $75 price!! If your ever in need of repair you will be able to determine if you can do it yourself with this book. A while back, my B2400 developed a leak around the front axle pivot. This model has the Bi-Speed turn option and as such has a gear box mounted to the rear of front axle. Unfortunately this was the pivot point which was leaking. After buying the WSM, I decided to attempt this myself( well,OK, with the help of my Dad and Father in Law!) It took us about 7hrs to change a lousy $1.60 O-ring, but I figure at shop labor rates I more than saved the price of the manual doing it myself. It's also kind of handy too as it has the specifications to make your own special tools! I plan on using my new mini lathe to make bushing tools for the mower deck this spring courtesy of the tool drawings provided in the manual!!
