Hmm.. not in my list.. you don't happen to have windows media center edition instead of just plain XP home do you?

Mine has :Contol panel>addremove programs>add remove windows componets

No digital media enhancements listed...

Ahhhh yes I do did not think of that. Don't know seems like it would be available from Microsoft some where. Itunes is free you might try that but it is typical Apple stuff and not very flexable. I did a search for MP3 conveters there seems to be quite a few free ones.

I did some checking.. seems that media center edition is more like 'pro' than home edition.

We have some hi-dollar business software at work that identifies the OS you are on, and due to 'support' issues, will not run on home edition..( it suposedly only runs on pro ) however, it loaded up -fine- on media center edition on a new pc we picke dup late last year and threw on the network.. in fact.. the sofware pre-install check identified the media center edition as 'ver 5, pro edition.. etc..

For now I am ok.. I got some software from creative.. and it is working fine.. besides.. my player seems to like wma files just fine..

thanks for the help.

It ain't a "pro" vs "home" thing, but you're getting warmer ...

I'll add my vote for iTunes. It is a free download, has an easy to use interface and does the job quickly. It is available for PC or Mac. I think you will be very pleased if you give it a try

Have you tried Audacity as suggested by Knute_M? It is free and works. What more could you ask for? ;)

I'll pass. "Sound" is a lifestyle, not just a singular question.
If you can't figure it out, reread MossRoad's post, at least it will get you on to your immediate goal. :)
