Man shoots llama

I can't verify the accuracy of this story, but it sounds reasonable given other stories I have heard: Supposedly a few years back a rancher answered a knock on the door to find a fellow who apologized for shooting a horse in the pasture. After they settled the matter, the rancher went out to take care of the horse and found an elk down and his horse running around unhurt.

In another instance an Arizona game warden was called out of a restaurant by a deer hunter who insisted on showing him the huge buck he had shot. He got written up for shooting an elk during deer season.

It isnt that uncommon. Where I grew up a farmer down the road lost a black angus cow to bear season. From what I heard the guy was pretty proud of his kill.

I have seen plenty of horses painted with flo orange, and it isnt for decoration.

I've been at the check station when a steer was checked in before. The guy was hunting down here is Southern Illinois and was from Chicago. The next year I saw another Chicago-ite check in a goat. Yes a billy boat, he said he thought it was a non-typical and it did have a white tail, I mean anyone could make that mistake in broad daylight right?
I've heard reports of guys from you guessed it, the state of Chicago, that have checked in dogs before. Some people just belong in town and should be fined when they try to leave.

Amen, how can someone NOT know a steer from a deer, or a dog from a deer.................can they not even diagnose a photo of the animal they are supposed to be looking for.

Something should be done to prevent them from multiplying.

Cliff,

I can't help but woner...Are there OTHER times of the year that you wander around the fields dressed as a cow? Beware of the frisky bulls! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry, couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Hmmm, I wonder how llama tastes? With it dead and since the guy owned up to it, Might as well eat it....Any recipes?

That reminds me of the guy who took his wife deer hunting for the first time.

They got to the woods and went to their respective hunting locations and about 20mins. later the husband hears the gunshot and makes his way to his wifes location, as he's coming closer he hears arguing, his wifes voice and some other man, she's claiming her deer and the other man is saying ITS NOT YOUR DEER after a couple minutes of this ,The other man finally concede's and asks the lady to at least let him have the SADDLE back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( I don't know. There are an amazing number of cows shot every year by deer hunters... )
As a kid growing up in north central PA it was a running joke every year to "lock up your cows" before the "flat landers" (Philly area hunters) came up and shot them. There was at least one killed every season... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

When I lived in NC some guys were talking about deer hunting and shooting by ear. Iasked them what they were talking about and they said it is when you cannot see the deer but can hear it and shoot towards the sound. I was astounded and told them that I hoped all the hunters around them hunted that way, all I got was a blank look, the did not have a clue.

Anyone stupid enough to shoot a cow, horse, llama or any other domestic type of animal thinking it is a deer shouldn't own a gun period. I had a guy almost shoot me once while I was coming out of the woods onto a logging road. The guy was in his 70's and wouldn't put his gun down. I yelled at him that I was human and not a deer. I put him right in my sights and almost dropped him. It took him about 6 seconds to drop his gun. I near shot him out of fear for my life. I told him to get the out of the woods before he kills someone. Some people shouldn't be allowed to hunt or own guns. It takes common sense to do both and some people lack it.
