Man shot and killed by juveniles while bush hogging

True story. Early 80s, my wife and i and another couple were roller skating in Lake Geneva WI, a very affluent kind of resort town in the south of the state. It's been taken over years ago by rich people from Chicago, FIBs…..

…..the local cops HATE the FIBS, especially the fat rich wives!

My neighbor and his friend were turkey hunting. They used calls then a turkey answered back. They move closer...it was in a bush up ahead. Finally they both shot and a guy yells out! It was another hunter. They hightailed it home, never checked to see if he was ok.
One of many reasons I don't hunt.

I was out BP deer hunting with my cousin about 20 years ago. We had split up when I heard him take a shot at a coyote. A couple of minutes later somebody off in the distance started shooting... and didn't stop for what seemed like 20 minutes. As I listened I could tell from the gunshots that he was just spraying the bushes. He must have had a bushel basket of loaded magazines because there would be just a brief pause occasionally then he would start again. We were well away from his property but it was still annoying.

That same cousin was hunting the same tract a few years later and got pinned down for about 1/2 hour by people out target shooting; he could hear the bullets whizzing over his head. He was on one ridge top, they were on their own property the next ridge over.

As to hunting....

I live on 20 acres with our hunt camp on two sides, an absentee owner on one side and thousands of acres of state land on the other side.

I have decided not to hunt the first week of the season. Too many Fudgies and citiots roaming around. I have never felt safe hunting on my own property. Not uncommon to hear 50-60 shots on opening day.

Fuddy, I went hunting with a friend just after I got back from 3 tours in SEA . . . I was hunkered down doing my duty when swish right by my head I went into military mode and dam n near killed the guy that shot my way . . . did not hunt again for many years.
