You just popped my bubble. I thought I could make couple hundred thousand every year on that stuff.

Kentucky just redid its industrial hemp laws. Evidently if the Feds ever legalize industrial hemp we are set to start planting. The THC levels in the industrial stuff is suppose to be so low that the smoke will make you sick before you get high.

$1000 per plant? Plants up here yield 3-7 lbs per. No one would do this much work for $1000 per plant. Everyone I know clear half a million a year. No joke. Farming at its best.

You are correct. My wife has a medical card and we grew six plants one year. I broke out the calculator and if you were to sell what we grew at street price it would have been around $7500 per plant. They were 10 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet across. We also had people try to steal them and there where also shots fired(at them) and police called by us on more than one occasion. I wonder if moonshiners had to deal with thieves back in the day!

I believe your concept of

this much work

is far different from someone engaged in "normal" farming practices.

Again if it was legal nationwide what do you expect the value of those plants would be?

I'd expect they would approach the value of a good tomato plant. You'd be able to buy seedlings at Lowes for $20 each.

But the prices will fall along with the legalization of weed.

It ain't that hard to grow a bit of decent pot, it's a weed not a shrinking violet.

6 years ago prices were around 3200 a pound in California. I've seen it go for as little as 1000 recently but that was a Hmong guy. They have destroyed the market and the land they grow on.

look at what happened in Colorado this pass election
they want to tax it at 25%
this is just 1 year after it was legalized
how high do you think the taxes will be in 10 years at that rate???

High taxes were what kept the moonshiners in business. If the tax on legal weed is too high, there will still be a black market for the tax free product. I wonder if Co. will tax what folks grow for their own use. That would be hard to police.

Oh yeah, the so called sin taxes.
What about the people that don't want to pay a 'sin tax' ?
A little pot is a whole lot easier to product then beer, whiskey, tobacco or just about anything else the Taliban (Christian or otherwise) want to tax as a sin.
That's why its still illegal (mostly), because when push comes to shove, the money ain't there unless it is illegal. That is the only thing that gives it value.

One can already buy clones (read specialized hybrid) in the 'marketplace' for as little as $30 to $ 50 apiece.

Dig a hole, throw some chubs from the local river into the hole, plant your seedling/s. Cozy up to the fire come winter time.
Uncle Sam can take a hike.
