And it's not like I don't want to contribute... I just don't have that many bright ideas... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

For the amount of mulch that you want to carry...

A narrow cart was specified for going through gates, so it will have to be long or tall, not wide. Also, low cost was mentioned. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The weight of the mulch in a tall cart would compress it at the bottom of the cart, where the feed mechanism would have to be if you want unmanned operation. This might cause jam ups without some sort of expensive conveyor or auger mechanism. I think you will need a two man operation, or make multiple trips to the mulch source.

I'd figure out how to use a wye pipe as a venturi for the mulch. Run the blower into the upstream straight end and feed the mulch down the upstream wye. The air blowing past the upstream wye should suck the mulch in pretty easily. Then you'd need some sort of flexible pipe on the downstream side of the wye to dump the mulch where it is needed. The blower could be made to attach and detach easily so it could be used for other things. You could try this very cheaply with a trip to the plumbing supply store, a leaf blower and some duct tape. See attached for what is in my brain. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The company that I work for has three divisions. We manufacture replacement parts for GE steam turbines and I run our pulp and paper and can making equipment divisions.

We have been thinking very seriously about manufacturing custom implements for the PT and we would be very interested in providing quotations for everything from simple plates to complete turnkey custom attachments. We currently do quite a bit of automated production and prototype electromechanical and hydraulic systems.

Our web sites can be viewed here www.auxprosys.com and www.seeleymachine.com

We have a general design practice of making our products simple and very robust / with a minimum of wear parts.

Of course I will be testing all prototypes fully before they are released for manufacture /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I look forward to your replies.

I would be VERY interested in what you come up with and pricing structure....shipping to me from Tazewell for 1 or 2 attachments can be a little expensive....you are a little closer and may be more feasable for me to make the trip up there. I'm planning on an extra attaching plate and some forks in the spring...maybe a plow blade too. Not sure on what you will be working on but the grapple is on my "long" list. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I posted before going to the sites...are the parts being manufactured in NY?

I would like to see something for separating rock from soil. Whether it is a 'screening bucket', 'soil preparator', 'power rack' or whatever the different manufacturers want to call them. Something that would fit the 425.

Something to pick up the soil, retain the rocks and let the soil pass through to the ground.. If it had a vibrator so much the better but not absolutely necessary. It would be nice to have replaceable/intechangeable screens for different size rocks. I am at the age where I'm not up to picking out rocks by hand or with an old fashioned stone fork. I get tired of rotortilling the same rocks year after year. Ijust want them out of my vegetable gardens, and my flower beds, and my lawns. Most of what is available is too large and expensive and it designed for clearing acres and acres. I want something a landscaper could use in tight places without hauling all the topsoil away and replacing it with fill. If I could get out everthing over 1/2 inch or so I would be thrilled.

I would get a lot more long term use out of it than I would a backhoe, or trencher, or a lot of other attachments.

Great! I see in general two opportunities for you.
1. Attachments now made by Power Trac that you can sell for less money. How about the snow blower? I believe it's around $2400. In my ignorance this seems very high.

2. Attachments that Power Trac does not make. The very big leaf and wood bucket might be a good example. A device to suck up leaves and put them in the bucket would be very helpful.

You also might compile a list of weaknesses of existing attachments from input on this site. If you can address these, you can sell a better product for about the same price. I have had several issues with the brush cutter for the 422/425. The front wheels go flat easily, the back wheels do not have grease fittings (I added some), the bolts holding the blades on break, and the blades hang up on the center hub. None of these are major, but none of them happened on my previous Kubotoa tractor.

Also you might look at uses for the rear hitch. A useful attachment for this would be a winch if you could arrange for it to not tear the hitch off.

Add on to existing attachments. There are many examples of custom additions on the site.
Good luck in your endeavers.

I would also like to see a rock rake that is multipurpose in nature. I can dig up rocks and dirt and the dirt would sift out. Additionaly, I might use it to pull up some shrub roots.

Also, a nice attachment would be a grapple that could be removed. This way someone might just want to buy the rake and not the grapple. Or, someone might want to use just the rake and if you took the grapple off, you would not be hindered by it's extra weight.

Here's something that is like what I am talking about.
