Just to finish off the thread with a couple of notes and pics...

The width of my LA463 bucket was 58 3/8" as others here have noted. The toothbar was 1/2" shorter than that, instead of 1/4" as advertised. I used two 1/2" galvanized washers on each side between the toothbar and the side wall to make up the difference.

I drilled my holes in the front of the slot in case I ever need to do the flip into the bucket technique. I installed the toothbar and used a 1/2" center punch to mark the holes, then removed the toothbar. I then drilled a small pilot hole from the inside and stepped the hole up to 1/2" using several intermediate bits from the outside. I did not need to oversize the hole using a larger bit to get it to work (I had them on hand just in case).

I did not weld on the 3/8" plates on the outside, but did install them. I will have them welded later.

Overall, a very easy installation. I used the toothbar to move some logs and dug a hole for fun. That little bit sticking out there allows you to haul a lot more brush in the bucket alone. I can't wait until this summer to see how it digs after the sun has baked the clay soil around here into a layer of rock!

Here are a couple of pictures of the toothbar installed and moving some logs. And yes, I made the ultimate mistake back on day 1 (pic 3)!

Christmas was two weeks ago.. What took you so long?

One piece of advice I would give to anyone who has a toothbar ..... When it comes time to take it off for what ever reason, take off the bolts and use the hydraulics to "giggle" it off.

They work really well and should come off easy, but I guess with mud etc, they can get a little pinched. I have never had a real hard time getting it off, but the first time I tried I must have twisted or something but I had a stiff neck for more than a month. I am 40 years old and work outside almost every day so it was just some sort of freak thing, but from that point forward I wiggle it off and simply pick it up off the ground.

Hopefully this never happens to anyone else

The ultimate mistake, the one I was thinking of, is turning too close to the truck or barn and having that leading tooth slice a gash in your sheetmetal.

Looks good on there. I can stack a lot more wood in the loader with the TB attached.

Joe,
I have done that to my tent canopies several times. Even snagged a tent post and guy line a couple times. Luckily never the truck.

  Thanks.... I'll be getting one myself this spring. And I do have a tendency to swing that bucket around within an inch or two of "stuff"....

Guess it time to start retraining myself.

Already have a gash in the barn from before I had the toothbar. That little cutting tooth on the edge of the bucket did enough damage, I can't imagine what a toothbar would do...nor do I want to find out!
