CTyler:
Years ago, I had a 350 chevy 4 bolt in a 1 ton truck that I bought used with about 100,000 miles on it. It had a leaky rear main seal so the guy kept adding oil because the rear main seal is kinda hard to change. He must have been using Penzoil or Quaker State a along because when I pulled the valve covers, you couldn't see the lifters or anything else for that matter. It was completely covered in jelly like goo. I replaced the seal and did the kerosene trick on it 3 times, I also had to clean the pickup screen, but I got most of the goo out.
One thing about the goo, if you lose your oil pump, you won't spin a bearing. Plenty of goo for lubrication. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
