I have a 1974 massey 150 i am getting a knock in tranny but when i press the clutch in the noise goes away it shifts in all gears fine and the clutch also seems to be fine does anybody know what the noise could be any help would be appreciated
I'm no expert, but it sounds like you have a throw out bearing going bad. The tractor would need to be split to change it and I would put in a new clutch while I was in there.

I know this may sound crazy, if you hear the knock when you have the clutch half way in (ie. at the end of the first stage) and you still hear it, but don't when you push the clutch all the way down, I'm betting you have your hydraulic (3point levers) all the way up past the "transport" line.. drop your levers down to midway and see if you still hear it... it may be pumping and against itself causing the knock.
