Glad you got this performing Mike. The Max22/24/25 and the larger Max26/28 are strong performers, but not with low pressure. System pressure must be at spec, nothing lower will do as that is how the specs in the brochures are calculated. If anyone else has a Max XL model and it isn't a little hot rod of a tractor, have your dealer check pressures the next time you have it in for service.

I moved at least 5 Cu yds of cow poop out of the cow camp in the pasture. Boy was it muddy. I 'm sure glad I laid down a paving block floor.

8.3 hours and it's covered with cow poop. I hosed it off, but the Max28 still smells like a cow.

One thing I noticed is that the metal gage on the loader arms is very thin compared to a B series Kubota and the is a lot of flex in the loader working it hard. I stopped by the Kubota dealer to pick up some hitch pins and the metal in a B series Kubota loader arm of the same section is at least 2x as thick.

The loader valve on the Max seems a bit jerky and not real progressive. I have to get the hang of it. My wife says it looked like I did not know how to use a loader.

It's not you, I noticed the same thing on my neighbor's Max. The loader valves are a bit abrupt and much harder to operate smoothly compared to my Kubotas (where I feel like I could stack dimes if I had to). Almost makes me wonder if they don't have any sort of proportional control built in, or maybe it's just very minimal. I believe that is normally done with chamfering in the spools.

Maybe your wife is correct? :dance1: ;)

Ha ha Dave!

One thing I have not got a good sense of with the ML205 bucket is bucket level and where the front edge of the bucket is in relation to the top edge. It doesn't help that I reiniforced the top flat edge of the bucket and its painted black. Also no fun working in a dark building at night in more than a foot deep cow poop with nothing but head lights (ROP with the LED Lights was folded) with the wife complaining it late and she is tired.

Today I did some drainage work around th horse paddock, moved some more horse poop and did a bit of grading where i could not fit the grading blade of the excavator. I had 3.8 hours on the max Monday, today its 9.3, all evening work. Getting ready for 2 new cows tomorrow.

I bet you could slightly modify this:

I have to agree. I used both my L39 and the Max28 today and the loader on the L39 is more progessive and controlable than the Max28. I suppose the reason a new L39 sells for near 3X what I paid for the Max28, it ought to have higher quality components.

The Max28 sure is a lot of value, but this is the best little tractor out there. (B2650/3350)

It's a balance of cost vs features. My TL130 track loader has pilot controls. Really, really nice. But I bet to replace just part of the control system would cost more than the entire loader assembly for a Max28. On a similar subject of cost vs features, Mahindra has long used position control for the three-point on Max and bigger tractors. Kubota and others have used non-position control on some of their cheaper models to meet a price point. It isn't a quality issue, but an issue of cost and how many features to pack into a model so it sells well. I really dislike not having position control....but if you have never had a tractor before you won't know your missing it. Likewise with really fine loader controls. You don't know what you are missing until, well, until you know what you are missing! An L39 ought to have a good valve, that is not an economy model by any stretch.

Thanks
It sits around too much. Springtime I need to find it some projects.
