Me So Horny... Adding a horn to a BX25

Yeah a horn might be a good mod! I can't say I would use much except to signal my retired neighbor it's quitting time and to bring us a beer. I love to listen to him tell stories as he has 25 years on me.

Cool, I've thought about doing this too. Good to know where I can get the parts, and where to mount the switch.

Hard to beat PA for stuff like this. Just gotta watch the sales

You got me thinking. I do like the horn on my B3030. I used to have a boat and carried an air horn for distress. I was going to give it to my father-in-law who has problems with bears eating his bird seed. In a pitch, I bet it would work good as a horn on the BX-25.

Air horns are a good idea.. so long as you remember to bring the horn and have a place to put it. My cup holder is usually occupied by a frosty beverage ;)

Nice job on the horn and the how to. I also thought about the B-series switch but I bet it is pricey and you would need a pig tail for it.

Thanks. The B series switch is something like $50 or $60 bucks.. Then youd still have to figure out something for the 4 ways (another switch) and the direction signals assuming you still want to use them. It was just going to add cost and complication so when I saw the pushbuttion I ended up using, I grabbed it. It looks pretty factory to me, durability on a chinese switch might not be so good though. If it fails, Ill put something better in there.

I wish my neighbour would bring the beer when I honked the horn:D

Yes I'm a lucky guy. He might just be banking on me doing a little tractor work for him someday but I would help him out regardless. He is a great old guy... One of the originals who trained the first dolphins for the Navy. Remember Flipper?

I just bought a horn kit on eBay for about $25 bucks. Included wiring harness, the same horn you used, and a small, crappy switch. I upgraded to a water/dustproof Cole Hersee momentary switch and everything looks/works great. I put my horn button on the right hand side. 2015-07-08 16.51.27.jpg

Looks good. The ROPS lights look like they will throw some serious light.

I had a new horn from a truck that I sold long ago and mounted the horn to the left side to the hood hinge bracket. I mounted the rubber booted push button (starter) switch on the PTO lever housing in a blank spot.

If I'm in trouble, at least I can honk for help.
