Meet our new kitten - and a couple of questions...

/ Meet our new kitten - and a couple of questions... #11
we had cats both ways, front declawed and all fours, now our cat is an outside one only and has them all ready for any unsuspecting critter to get too close. she is a loveable thing and has never scratched US and will drool at the thought of getting some loving and attension.

I felt so bad for our declawed kity that I will never do that agine, like others said she was in terriable pain for weeks, same goes for litter box paper only and change daily. wait a bit longer (I belive 6 months) is what they recogmended to us before declawing. not sure if this was worse or not. kittens are hard to train but once they get older getting them to scratch what they should and not what they shouldn't is not very hard. like i said I'll never do it again, think how much pain it is to have you're fingernails ripped out... cats are not much different. lots of pain even after the anistetic wears off.

Sounds like rhino (rhino traciatus ?)
We had a simaese kitten with it. In his case it was chronic, though it sort of came and went, and got better as he got older, though he was always sort of sickly and died young (maybe 8 years old).
Our vet told us to hold him in front of a humidifier to let him sneeze a few times a day.
I don't believe there is a cure. Its viral and the antibiotics are probably to avoid sinus infections (which is the reason you want him/her to sneeze)

Good luck with your cat Bill. It could be a variety of things, not all of them pleasant I'm afraid to say. You might want a second opinion.
I wouldn't worry about what your kitten has being caught by your dog. Felines, canines and humans all keep our own viruses to ourselves unless we are talking Rabies, which is really starting to spread.

Declawing is almost becoming a thing of the past, like removing a dog's dewclaws, but it sure saves on the furniture. My cat isn't declawed, can still catch a mouse that comes in out of the rain, but he still prefers the back of a chair rather than his scratching posts. Leaving the back claws, which is a good halfway point, will still allow them to climb a tree if they get out and need to escape something.
