Well thanks Abe. If it works nearly as well, as I think it might. That gives me one more reason to be lazy and not get off of the PT. ;)

BUT, not getting of the PT means MORE work; comfy seat, refrigerator, expresso maker, bathroom, TV, etc.

THEN, when all that's done, you could then be lazy and stay on the tractor (except when doing routine maintenance of those "add-ins".)

Hey Barry,
HOW ARE YOU COMING ALONG WITH YOUR BUCKET GRAPPLE PROJECT ??:) I haven't seen any updates over at My Power Trac: A Power Trac Owner's Resource . The project looks great so far!!:) I'm looking forward to finding out how that 12V actuator works out.
My Power Trac: A Power Trac Owner's Resource is a great site I wish more PT owners knew about it!!. :D
Hey there Richard,

Both sites are good for a cold winter's day of reading. Great information for anyone that owns a PT, and any other tractors for that matter. I plan to use my three day weekend coming up to work on the grapple, along with shorting up my ripper tubing so I can get in between tree's etc.

Sorry for the delay. I've just been to busy around here with all of the other things going on. I also ordered some new 4x4 tubing slowly I've been getting materials together for working on a mini hoe. Hopefully I can get it done this fall with yours and J.J.'s direction.

Speaking of the Mini Hoe, would someone give me the length of the stock PT boom tube. From the attachment plate to where the tube ends. Thanks for your help.

My humble apologies for mentioning another Power Trac forum on this Power Trac forum... please forgive my wicked ways.

My 425 mini-hoe total length is just over 33".
The distance from the back of the attachment plate to the pivot of the bucket is exactly 32"

Thanks Mark ,

I might make mine slightly shorter, not sure how much less steel is used on the 180 lift arms verse's the 422,425 if any. Trying to make a working hoe without having to beef up the arms. Thanks for the information I really appreciate it.

How thick is the steel used for the boom tube?

Thanks. I am going to build a mini-hoe soon. Just now acquiring the steel. If it looks good, and I can find enough paint to cover my ugly welds, I'll post some pictures.
